Help me dress for an important wedding please

Here are my challenges;

  • Italian wedding with lots of gorgeous women/clothes
  • I am doing a reading
  • I have my 3 year old toddler with me
  • have recently shrunk down from size 16 to about a '13' if there was one
  • not too flush for cash

I was thinking red maybe, sleeves to some extent (church and arm coverers!) was thinking top and trousers, had elegant tunic type top with well tailored fitted cream trousers - already have lots of lovely shoes in many colours.

Help!! not so keen on dresses for a multitude if reasons. Also with 200 people at the wedding don't want to risk clashing with a high street number. It's august in the uk so chance of rain! As there are 30 kids at the wedding I will be needed to play too!

Any ideas for online boutique type places??

Yey - now found 3 I really like, it will be a novelty not to wear the same one to each wedding! The photos would have been hilarious with me in the same outfit and different people around me, a bit like rent-a-mob!

you reckon one kidney would do it....?

That blue maxi on Asos is bloody lovely. I also say GO DRESS. I've also slimmed from a 16 to a 12(on a good day) and tunic over trousers was always my no-confidence outfit of choice, so I'd be loathe to wear it now. Need to show off my new titchy waist to anyone who will look!!! I bet you look tons slimmer than you think you do OP.

Fell - thank you. You are right of course about tunic and trews being an old habbit. Well done you with the titchy waist, currently dress purchasing!!

i went to an italian wedding once. lots of people wearing black dresses, faboulous shiny shoes and sunglasses

Yes, but you shouldn't try to emulate the Italians cos you will get it wrong/half-arsed. Look British and proud - when done well our style is charming and not remotely naff, and you will stand out as the unusual continental type.
