Hi,

After two babies in fairly short succession I have been saving birthday/christmas money etc to be able to buy myself a new wardrobe when I'm back to 'me' (nearly there!)

So - I'd like some recommendations, as I'm hopeless with clothes, for basics.

Some dresses, jeans, jackets, tops, knitwear.

Nice stuff that won't date massively or make me look too old/young. (I'm 32... nearly)

I'm a size 10 bottom, 12 top and would be described as hourglass I suppose. With large jubblies.

I'd like to insert a bit of colour into my life too, and this is a non-work wardrobe.

Thanks!

I think probably the key things are to choose a colour palette and stick to mix and match pieces. I also use accessories to update basic items rather than buying lots of trend stuff because it is cheaper than constantly replacing your entire wardrobe.

Your probably looking for a coupld of good pair's of jeans, I have one long for heals and one short for flats.

A couple of nice jackets, one for smart and one for casual.

I also have the same H&M vest top in every colour you can imagine which is great for summer or layering in winter.

I've also got pretty much the same cardigan in lots of different colours to as the style suits me and it means I can wear my summer dresses in spring and autum to get extra wear from them.

I think it depends on where you live and what you do there. For example I live relatively urban so I tend to wear dresses and cardies in summer (with flat shoes), and short skirts with jumpers and thick tights and (flat) boots in winter.
you may find that suits your figure, you may not.
or you may prefer a jeans and pretty blouses look, or dolled up to the nines look.

if the children are little i would suggest no dark plain tops as that will show vomit and snot too well, and flat shoes for running/climbing after kids (and of course for lots of lovely walks to feed the ducks).

i think you need to decide what you want in your life - next time you don't know what to wear think 'what would i like to wear?' if the answer is leather trousers and a boobtube, you know where to start!

you might consider a 'style day' to get advice on what to wear also.
HTH.

oooh what s astyle day?

I tend to stick to jeans and long sleeved tops for every day uniform if you like, boring but I know every day what I shall be wearing and am never in a flap.
Jeans are in the sale at Boden at the moment, they tend to be nice quality and about £30 a pair so not too horrific, some people like new look hula jeans too, I never got on with them.
But I would say buy yourself something lovely too for when you go out without the children, you need something dressy that makes you feel like a million dollars when you're at home with children.

Are you thinking summer clothes or autumn/winter?

With the sales on there are some bargains to be had but also a lot of rubbish in the shops at the moment.

I'm a sahm and wear a lot of jeans mostly skinny cut - tucked into boots in the winter and with swedish hasbeens in the summer.

I do like a blouse with jeans or wear t-shirts/camisoles with little cardigans.

I also wear a lot of dresses with denim jacket at the moment.

If I were you - I'd pick a day when you leave the dc's with someone and go and just try on loads of stuff.

What shops do you like?
