Help repair my scraggy middle-aged decollete

Whoamireally · 12/07/2010 11:49

I always slap factor 50 on my decollete when I'm doing the kid's suncream in the morning, but was horrified to see a recent photo of me in a low cut dress with this horrid reddish patch midway between my neck and boobs .

It looked truly horrid and middle aged and made the rest of me look like a scraggy harridan whose sun-worshipping days have finally caught up with her (I loathe the sun so I know it's not sun-bathing that's caused it).

Other than completely cover up from the neck down, which is not a good look in a youthfully faced 35 year old with big norks, what should I be doing to keep my decollete from prematurely aging the rest of me!!! Am I supposed to be putting face masks on it and stuff cause that could get quite expensive? Can anybody recommend a moisturiser!!

I feel your pain; mine is the same. Also have it on my upper arms as well.

Finally spoke to GP about it as I have had the "whoa...you've caught the sun a bit" comments about three times a day for the last four years and am sick fed up telling people it isn't sunburn and have them look at me like I'm bonkers.

Anyhoo, he said it's sun allergy dermatitis, even though it isn't itchy or sore. I am taking a pretty strong antihistamine tablet at night and putting some 1% hydrocortisone on twice a day and in a aweek and a half looks soooo much better and the craked lines have gone too. Am not happy about this as a long term measure though so will look at the rosehip stuff.

whoamireally you crack me up! And yes I have noticed that nipple placement conumdrum! Was it always like that or is it a post-breastfeeding delight I wonder???

You have, however, made me mildly obsessed about my wrinkly chest - I can't help but notice the deep wrinkles every morning that never seemed to be there before... but I suppose I just wasn't paranoid back then. Blimey I was pouring the phytaoil on this morning! I'm going to need another bottle soon. That said my skin does feel nice today (if a little over lubricated!)...

GobbyGabby · 15/07/2010 17:51

Ooooh! I'm a convert to the Phytaoil from Bio Oil for the ol' stretchmarks, but had not even thought of using it for the crepe-paper chest area! At this rate I'll end up bathing in the stuff...

rockbudgie · 15/07/2010 19:08

You can do that you know?! A couple of drops in the bath (the oil not the lotion obviously) - fab-u-lous!

Whoamireally · 15/07/2010 19:11

rockbudgie Myself and the husband have speculated of an evening when nothing better to do that possibly, the nipple is anchored by some tubes or something that the milk actually comes out of .

I do think that there was possibly a little bit of un-necessary groping from DH but it was, allegedly, for research purposes

This thread has done a great public service for drawing attention to a potentially prematurely ageing, nay, debilitating, condition, whilst there is still time to save yourselves. Who wants to be condemned to a lifetime of polo necks, especially if your puppies are the size of Saint Bernards???

lacksdaisies that's really interesting, I get it on my arms too and people do keep asking if I've been in the sun!!! Maybe I should pay a visit to my GP? Or put on some of that E45 cream with hydrocortisone in it?? Although I think you then have to be extra careful in the sun as it can thin your skin?

This thread has made me chuckle myself out of my morning wrinkle-wrestling depression!
Quick tip- I got Phytaoil from the Nutricentre concession in the big Tesco near us, and I think they have it online too.

hahahahaha! it's hard to know what to say to that really... except of course that you are genii!

seriously though, you've just made me realise that my father has this problem (sort of - not the cleavage problem obviously, that would be too weird) - but he's pretty much allergic to the sun these days after having to take steriods which I think thinned his skin. ANYWAY, long story short he uses hc45 (I think that's what it's called) so might be worth trying although I don't think it's the sort of thing you want to use for too long.

so, what wrongs to right next ladies?!

Emz8 · 28/07/2010 13:17

yep this all sounds very familiar. I too have not spent my youth in the sun but have a red blochy area - yuk. I've tried this Phytaoil and really like it - free samples too! Yippeee!!

Whoamireally · 28/07/2010 22:34

Hmmm Emz8 has it actually made an improvement? My decollete is feeling better with the phytaoil and everything definitely perkier than usual but it does not yet look better - still slightly Feltzy.

Any improvement yet Feltz Whoamireally?

purplepeony · 04/08/2010 17:32

so what can you do about the dreaded tramlines which have suddenly appeared? No wrinkles and very little discolouring but vertical lines where it all gets squashed into the middle while sleeping.

Whoamireally · 04/08/2010 18:12

rockbudgie! Although I have always never been one to jump on a bandwagon, have to admit that the Phytaoil is good stuff and am looking slightly less Feltzy - a bit less red. Got a sample of the lotion in the post today, so extra pleased

purplepeony so are you saying you haven't got yours yet?

OP posts:
Whoamireally · 04/08/2010 20:14

Sorry that should be /\ really shouldn't it

rockbudgie · 05/08/2010 10:10

hahaha! loving that last post there.

so pleased you're liking the oil and even better that it's working! hurruh!

you know what though, I saw Feltzy on telly this morning and her real problem is those white lines in her neck. ugh. perhaps we should send her some...

and perhaps I should go moisturise my neck...
