In an attempt to avoid the mum-in-jeans trap, I want to invest in some everyday jersey dresses.

Where are the best places to look for them? Ideally I'd like something with long sleeves, or the sort of short / sleeveless type that could be worn with a cardigan in winter. I thought now might be a good time to look as so many places have sales on.

Thank you for your help

you should buy it - is it for a specific do? Nice dresses like that go for silly money on ebay.

dexter73 · 11/07/2010 21:22

I also have this which looks nice with navy leggings.

ChateauRouge · 11/07/2010 21:26

Oh- that one looks fantastic on the website, but terrible on the hanger... glad to hear it looks good on!

LaCerbiatta · 11/07/2010 21:40

I love that stripy one! Unfortunately it's too fitted for me...

If I was wasn't on mat leave and living on practically no money I would definitely buy it as I know how difficult it is to find a nice dress. How unfair is it that when you have time to try on every single dress in every single shop you don't have the money to afford them!...

The White Company have some lovely pieces in their new arrivals section www.thewhitecompany.com/category.aspx?id=2003481 There might be something there! I'm loving the Jersey Empire Tunic and the Jersey Empire Dress.

OOOh I spent £120 in Phase Eight Sale today!

Lush things in there.

I got the flower dress that Tuga linked to but in a dusty pink lilac colour.

I got the Natalie dress from Joules a few weeks ago with a view to "good for work, alternative to jeans for SAH days. Good for summer, could work with boots and long sleeve T in winter." It is fab and I have hardly stopped wearing it. And it doesn't need ironing.

Wallis do very good plain and quite basic jersey dresses that you can just throw on and are robust enough to cope with small children! I have a few that I wear both at work and at home, and find them very useful.

I got that Marica dress, Collision! in very dark blue. Let's try not to attend the same parties in it, ok?

I wore it on a date on Friday and it seemed to do the trick.

i just bought that lovely lovely isabella Thingy wrapover dress. I'm going to use it to replace a sleeveless Hobbs one that I bought and should love but just don't.

cornsilky · 12/07/2010 16:45

I bought the Isabella Oliver one as well. Only thr pink left in my size.

Maryqueenofchocs · 13/07/2010 20:11

IO sizes are on website, a 12 is a D.. I think they are about spot on..I LOVE my wrap dress...

WhatsWrongWithYou · 13/07/2010 22:18

That Phase8 flower dress, what length is it?

I don't really suit anything below the knee, but I always think of their things as being longer.

wrigglytummy · 22/07/2010 09:52

I came on today to ask the exact same question - I am desperate to get out of jeans and into a dress and boots this autumn/winter. I still have not quite found 'the one' - any more ideas gratefully recieved!

sue52 · 22/07/2010 10:17

Out of curiosity I just had a look at Isabella Oliver wrap dress. It is lovely but I don't understand their sizes. Does anyone know what a 10 would be? Thanks.

moragbellingham · 22/07/2010 20:27

A "C" i think.
I ordered some maternity things in my size but found the arms very tight and would now always buy two sizes and send one back.
