Secret smoker - quit but no one to celebrate with

I’m not sure whether I am alone but I have been a secret smoker for at least ten years. I only smoked on my own, never in public and didn’t tell anyone.

I am over the moon to have stopped since New Year 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 but… can’t share my joy with anyone as no one else knew in the first place!

so I am sharing here so please join in if you have recently quit too 😘😘

Well done! Same here and now been almost a year. Was such a nice thought when I realised a whole holiday I took in November had been paid with money that would have otherwise been spent on smoking!!

Celebrate here. Well done. Your breath, clothes and hair will smell fresher, your lungs will be clearer, your skin brighter and your bank account way better off.
Can you treat yourself once a week to some small, healthy reward with some of the mo ey you save?

thrifty24 · 14/01/2025 01:08

@WinterFoxes well said and actually although I noticed most of the benefits you mentioned very quickly, such as food tasting better and not spending on cigs, it took me a while to notice just how good my skin was looking. People were complimenting me on a skin glow and noticing teeth were whiter. My face became so much less puffy too

Well done, this was me 14 years ago. So happy when I see ladies my age with all lip wrinkles from smoking and I don't have them! Not to mention the thousands I've saved.

Be aware there might be a time when you are tempted for a quick puff. It passes quickly. Best thing to do is pick up another task to take your mind off, have a snack instead. I find it happens when I am bored or have had a stressful day but it helps to imagine how crap I felt after a cigarette or 5. Absolutely unreal that I would have spent £900 last year if I hadn't knocked it on the head and felt so good to have had a holiday using that money. Please keep going.
