Fags to vape?

Anyone switched from fags to vape? Is it easy? I really want to pack up smoking and know I can't just go cold turkey as I'd be very stroppy (previously tried)

It’s very easy to switch, but it has drawbacks. It’s much easier to find places to vape. You can vape all the time at home without any smell on furniture. So, it does just kick the problem up the road. It’s definitely better than smoking, but still not great. I use blu 2.0 because it’s small and discrete. I use menthol because it’s the least noticeable - tobacco flavours are not pleasant.

With Blu 2.0, there are no liquids to worry about, and different strengths of liquid, but it’s more expensive than refillable options.

Best of luck!

Yes I used vaping to stop smoking. I had previously tried to stop smoking using nicotine chewing gum and failed quite a few times.

I found it relatively easy to switch, the act of vaping as well as providing the nicotine your body craves also provides a "throat hit" and mimics the hand to mouth actions of smoking.

I use Jac Vapour a UK based firm, who have a variety of products available at different price points. You might have to experiment a bit and it may seem expensive to do that, but with the cost of a packet of cigarettes you'll soon make quite big savings. Personally I prefer the tobacco flavoured vape liquids as I find the fruity ones sickly.

Theres a lot of mis-information on vaping out there and some people when they see you vaping will tell you its as bad as smoking. Heres the official NHS view:

I did it that way but the plan was to always give up the vape as well, you must always keep that front of mind.

I slowly lowered the nicotine dose with the vape until that particular habit was gone then i stopped changing the filter and allowed the vape to get too blocked to be effective. It was pretty easy after that. Took around 6 to 9 months to then be a complete non smoker. Been 5 years now and only get fleeting thoughts of it but i know i would choke if i had one!

Good luck, you can do this.

Vaping is different to smoking in that instead of getting one big hit of nicotine and then none, you vape more often to keep up a low level of nicotine in your body.

It's actually a better nicotine delivery system, if you ask me. As long as you don't lose the vape down the back of the sofa, it's much less stressful. I don't experience the same ups and downs as I used to from smoking. I'd get really narky if I couldn't get a cig when I wanted one.

So yeah, don't vape like you would smoke, in bursts. Some people go on like you shouldn't nurse them but you're going to need to a bit to beat the nicotine cravings. The goal is that you never get very strong cravings again.

Another thing that can help is to use nicotine gum with it or for when you're somewhere you can't vape. You'll find you stop needing it eventually, but that keeps your nicotine levels topped up while you adjust.

Obviously from there you can cut the nicotine down in your vape. I haven't stopped (because I don't want to 😁) but I found it really easy to halve my nicotine consumption by changing the liquid. I barely noticed the difference.

Good luck!
