Hi,

Iv e just bought my first vape starter kit all set up but when I inhale the smoke/vape hurts my chest and makes me cough. Tbh it's putting me off.

Is this something I'll get used to or am I inhaling to much? When inhale less doesn't feel like getting anything

You aren't really meant to inhale it the same as cigarette smoke - but I'm struggling to put into words how exactly you do it!

Somebody with an explanation will be along soon I'm sure! Blush

Oh that's why it's hurting, how do you do it then?

I don't actually inhale the vapour, I hold it in my mouth and breath in through my nose. I get some in my lungs but breathe most of it out. You could also try liquids with less of a throat hit - any vape shop can advise you on that or google it. What nicotine strength are you using? I started off on 18mg but I've gone down to 12mg a couple of weeks later.

Also, if you were a heavy smoker, you're probably coughing up crap from quitting that.

Can you change your airflow on the tank and the wattage? Both of those will make a difference as well as the things PP have already said.

NB: before changing the wattage check what range your coils state on them - going outside of that range will cause burnout.

Definitely shouldn't hurt when you inhale, what kit have you got? If you can adjust the settings what are you set at and can you see the resistance of your coil? Did you let it sit for a while after you'd filled it with liquid.
If it feels tight when you draw on it then inhale as you would a cigarette, if it's airy then inhale straight to your lungs, take in lots of air, but in that case it's not really for a beginner.

This is quite common and settles down for most people after a few days. It's caused by the PG in the liquid, which gives you a 'throat hit'. Make sure you're drinking plenty and as others have said, you don't need to inhale much at all, you'll absorb plenty of nicotine through your mouth and nose.

You can try a high VG, or even a 100% VG liquid that will be a lot gentler on your throat.
