Due to high stress, I recently started smoking again. I'm considering Vaping but I don't know what to get. I understand it doesn't replace nicotine but what does it do ? Thank you

It's true you can get ecigs/liquid with no nicotine but they mostly contain anything from 3mg/ml to 18mg/ml nicotine so they do provide nicotine. One of the most famous sayings about smoking is that "smokers smoke for the nicotine but die from the TAR". Beauty of vaping is it provides the nicotine smokers crave but no TAR.
Vaping isn't the same as smoking, you need to learn a different way of getting your nicotine, habits, routines etc..
When I started I tried to vape the same as I smoked so I trudged out to the smoking shed every hour and took 7 puffs, same as a fag. Of course after 2/3 puffs I was satisfied so after a while stopped doing that and just puffed when I felt the need.
New stuff coming out all the time so if you can try your nearest vape shop to see what suits you. Most of the stuff coming out now is sub ohm gear, cloud chasing stuff, lung hitting, which is like inhaling through a hose pipe so unless that's your thing you need a "mouth to lung" setup. Months old now but an innokin endura T18 or T22 is a decent starter (newer T20 isn't really up to it) and 18mg liquid is fine to begin with, you can go lower or even use 0mg if you want. Sure others will be along with better suggestions, good luck.

All I would say is try one before you buy, because if it's not for you it's a waste of money. DP and I both got them a few New Years ago to try and quit and they were absolutely shit despite paying about £30 per device and then more for the liquids. Massive faff filling them up, they leaked and stopped working all the time, we had them replaced by the shop twice and it happened again both times and we weren't doing anything wrong. I also used to smoke Marlboro reds or roll ups which are quite heavy and the vape didn't compare to the sensation of smoking at all. Equally neither of us liked the sickly sweet flavours and the ones that were supposedly tobacco flavoured were grim. I quit cold turkey when I found out I was pregnant and the hyperemesis masked the withdrawal symptoms. Maybe more expensive devices are better, or have improved from 2 years ago.

vaping definitely replaces nicotine but it's not licensed as NRT and I don't think any claims about smoking cessation are allowed.

It's similar enough to smoking for me but the technique at the start is definitely little and often.

The innokin Endura referred to above is a great starter set. It's very close to the draw that you get from a cigarette and is really simple to use.

There are masses of different set ups and the choice can be bewildering so shops are really helpful. A lot of sets are subohm but some allow more flexibility in how they can be used. I wouldn't bother with the very cheap kit nowadays as there are some very affordable alternatives out there.

Juice is down to personal taste and believe me your tastes will change along the way so don't get too much
