Ecigs and holidays

I'm going abroad in a little while and I don't know the rules about vaping and taking ecigs on planes.

I've googled, and most places say that you can take the batteries etc as long as they are fully charged.

I'm guessing that the liquids have to be in the hold luggage, or in a see through bag for the plane?

I think I've found an adapter that will work abroad.

Is there anyone who's vaped abroad recently that can give any advice please?

Gatwick told me lots of them vape, it's very handy when you work in an airport so they are very used to seeing kit . I took fully two charged isticks and liquid in my hand luggage. Liquids in 10ml bottles and put inside the plastic bag while going through security. Stealth vaped into my bag on the plane, but did find my clearos got flooded, I think it must have been the cabin pressure.

i took mine with no problems in my hand luggage but put my liquid in my hold case but could have put then in the clear bag if needed
no issues at either airport

Ah ok, maybe I will take a disposable clearo for the plane and pack my reusable one in the hold then!

Bum. I've just checked on our local airport page (probably should have done this before MN) and found the following...

"An e-cigarette or vaping device may be taken through the Security Search Area but the use is not permitted in the airport terminal.

Spare refills may not be carried in hand (cabin) baggage or in hold (checked-in) baggage. "

What on earth do they mean by refills? The liquid I'm guessing?

That does sound a bit odd, they are obviously clueless. We've travelled a lot with no issues, eliquid in the clear bags, ecigs switched off carried in pockets. Annecdotal evidence suggests keep them upside down to avoid flooding. Unlikely but if you're going to Queensland W Australia it's a criminal offence to posess eliquid with nicotine in it, fines and/or the jail for not smoking 😕

You can have a quick vape in the loos. No one will know! 😀

Went through Manchester to Germany and back recently with mine. I put juice bottles in a clear bag and I just had to put the ecig in a tray with other electric stuff going through security. It was fine they didn't even ask what the juice was and it wasn't labelled.
Charged fine while over there too with a normal euro adapter

Mine also leaked on the plane. Think it must of been pressure of being in the air? DHs did too and he has a different model. So try and make sure it's empty

I suck the liquid out of the coil when they leak and deposit it on a tissue. I usually end up ingesting a bit so fixing my clearos saved having to stealth vape much tbh

I've always taken my batteries, tanks & liquids (the latter in the wee clear bags) through airports with no problems.

It is the change of pressure that makes them leak so if you have your tank only half full & hold your ecig upside down during take off & descent you will be OK.

I have vapes, stealthily, at terminals & on planes & in plane loos & have never had a problem in the four years I've been vaping.

Thanks all, I think I will chance it and hope for the best... It would seem odd not to take my ecigs, as they're the reason I can actually afford a holiday!

Just popping in to say that lithium ion batteries must be carried in hand luggage, not hold baggage. I pack my juice bottles, and most of my atomisers with juice in, wrapped in kitchen towel - they always leak - in hold baggage, and the atomiser I'm using (with juice in) in the little plastic bag in hand baggage. HTH!
