Where to start?

Sorry, I know this probably gets asked over and over (and I promise, I have read some threads, I've been browsing all day on here!) but I don't really know where to start, there seems to be so much choice for vaping that I'm worried about making an error!

I've been smoking for over 20 years and I am definitely what would be classed as a heavy smoker - probably 30 rolls ups a day and around 4 or 5 regular cigarettes.

My H bought this kit but didn't get on with it (I don't think he's ready to quit yet to be honest) www.vividvapours.com/index.php/e-liquid-electronic-cigarette-shop/e-liquid-electronic-cigarette-starter-kit/vivid-e-liquid-starter-kit-353.html so I've nabbed that, thank you very much... but is it any good? Would I be better off with a different brand? If it helps, I'm not particularly interested in the flavoured liquids, just cigarette flavoured will do me thanks Grin

Thanks in advance Smile

I am looking forward to the time when I can sit watching the telly while vaping away happily without having to pause it every so often or dash out in the breaks to the garden for a roll up!

In good news, my H is so impressed that he's been down to Asda this evening and bought another Vivid starter kit for himself (seeing that I pinched his!) so we'll be doing it together Grin

Brilliant stuff Boutonneux Flowers

Some people dual fuel for ages, some switch instantly. Do whatever works for you. I quit the same day I got my kit, DH took over a year to lose the last fag of the day. Just keep counting the ones you don't smoke Smile

magimedi · 10/04/2015 20:14

Totally agree with what plenty says.

I took 2 weeks of dual fuelling before I switched.

As I have said before, if you are worried that a vape & coffee won't have the same 'evacuation' results as a cig & coffee, don't fear - vaping works the same magic on the bowels as smoking!

Sorry if that's TMI but I know a lot of people worry about that aspect!

magimedi · 10/04/2015 20:23

And if you are withing reach of Brighton, Boutonneux do join us for our meet up! The more the merrier!

So far so good! Smile

I did have a roll up about 2 hours ago... I wasn't actually craving it as such but I felt like I should be, if that makes sense? Confused I didn't actually enjoy it and ended up putting it out half way through. Surely it's not going to be that... easy? It seems a little too good to be true. Am I going to get up tomorrow like a cigarette deprived lunatic, kicking children and animals out of my way to get to my roll ups?

Magi I'm miles away sadly (in the Midlands) but thanks for the offer Smile

It is that easy! You are still getting the nicotine & still having the hand/mouth action that many people find a hard habit to break.

It is the only instance in my life that I've ever had of having my Cake & eating it Grin

I found it really easy to stop smoking using an e CIG. I couldn't believe how easy it was and wish I'd done it years ago. I think one of the reasons I'd never managed to stop before was because everyone talks about how hard it is. But since stopping over realised that there are generally 2 camps who think it's hard, smokers and the smoking cessation industry.

Stopping smoking using ecigs is easy, because it's better than smoking. Like magimedi says it's like having your Cake and eating it.

crispandfruity · 11/04/2015 11:00

It is that easy, it's true! I had my first crack about 3 years ago with cigalikes (them ones that look like fags) and lasted 4 weeks. The reason why I went back to fags was because the cigalikes were rubbish. They tasted horrid and the running out of battery all the time was a pain.

I then discovered that a friend of mine had taken up vaping, I got myself set up with a basic kit, found this forum and voila 6 weeks of being fag free. No mood swings, no major cravings, yes sometimes I do get the urge but I just vape through them.

Boutonneux · 11/04/2015 18:38

So I've had 1 cigarette today, when I first got up and while I did enjoy it, I wasn't desperate for it, you know?

I've had a delivery today of various vaping related delights (only ordered yesterday, top class service) and I'm feeling so positive Grin

Thanks to everyone that's took the time to reply, I really do appreciate it.

One fag is brilliant!! What shiny stuff have you got?!

Boutonneux · 11/04/2015 19:00

Polter I'm just worried there's going to be a big hit of desperation or something, it seems a bit too good to be true! I've had a few moments where I've thought "hmmm, fag, yes that might be nice" but have managed to vape my way past them!

H isn't doing so well, he's barely picked up his e-cig all day and has been smoking his usual amount. I'm not going to nag at him or anything, it has to be his choice but would I be unreasonable to ask him to go outside for every fag? At the moment we/he goes outside during the day but then smoke in the kitchen with the door open in the evening. I just don't want to smell/see it at the moment in case it makes me want one...

I've had a pretty pink Ego 1300 battery, 3 x Aspire e-pen clearmoisers and 6 different liquids (2 tobacco ones, custard, pina colada, capuccino and cherry menthol) - this from the person who said only yesterday "I'm not really fussed about the flavoured liquids" Grin

I also ordered the mini nautilus but that hasn't arrived yet.

Is "quite large and often" okay too as I seem to have it in my hand more often than not at the moment? Grin

I've told asked him to take his filthy habit outside... he didn't mind at all. Just stuck my head around the living room door though and he's vaping way with his e-cig... think I might have shamed him into it Wink

Boutonneux · 11/04/2015 23:34

So, "custard kiss" from Vape Escape is bloody lovely.

The Ego 1300 + aspire e-pen is a very nice combination... not that I've got a lot of experience to go by lol but I can tell the difference with it straight away compared to the vivid starter kit Smile

The cappuccino one is horrible Sad Disappointed as I love coffee so was hoping to like this one. It's got a really nasty burnt taste to it and a horrible after taste. Oh well, never mind, was only £1.00!

I do really like the idea of coffee flavoured though; can anyone recommend a really nice one?

I'm quite partial to Vaping Kings Caramel Latte as an after-dinner vape. A bit more caramel than latte IMO, but nice Smile

Boutonneux · 12/04/2015 15:26

Thanks allergic - some very nice sounding ones on that site.

This is getting expensive! Grin

Allergictoironing · 12/04/2015 15:43

Just start adding up how much you've saved already by not smoking!

Boutonneux · 12/04/2015 16:10

Absolutely! No matter how much I spend, it'll still be nothing compared to what I was spending on smoking Grin

It's now been 29 hours since my last cigarette and I am feeling marvellous!
