Hope it's working out ok OP.
I smoked for 21 years (except for 2 years when I was pregnant/bfing).
I tried to give up. I tried patches and various other types of NRT. I had hypnosis twice. I read Allen Carr countless times. I read Gillian Riley. I used the NHS Stop Smoking service. I took Champix. I rarely got beyond 3 smoke free days. Suffice to say, I was a very committed smoker indeed.
I decided to try vaping a couple of years ago, but had several false starts. Like a PP, I thought that I would really want a tobacco flavour- but it didn't hit the spot for me.
A couple of weeks ago I decided I needed to give it another go. I picked a date and went for it. For the first few days, I wore a (stage 2) nicotine patch and vaped too. I think that's probably not recommended as there's no way of measuring how much nicotine you're getting, but it worked well for me (thought I was utterly WIRED on nicotine). Then I dispensed with the patches a few days in and I haven't looked back. I'm using lots of lovely flavours- no tobacco ones.
It's only 10 days since I last smoked, so it's still early days but I just can't imagine smoking again- I feel a level of confidence I have never had before in previous quitting attempts. I don't miss smoking at all. When I go into shops and see my regular brand of tobacco behind the counter I feel...nothing.
My plan is to gradually reduce the nicotine in my ecig (I am already down to a pretty low strength) and eventually use nicotine-free juices. But if I stay with the nicotine long-term, it won't be the end of the world as I'm convinced it has to be less dangerous than smoking cigarettes.
Good luck with whatever you decide, but as you can see, vaping has worked wonders for many of us here- it just might take a few false starts til you get a taste for it.
