For an eGo style battery (i.e. any battery that screws into the charger), the output should be no higher than 0.5A (500mA). iPhone, and some other phone chargers are 2A and are not safe for ecigs. Here's a suitable charger for £3. I've stuck big labels on mine so I don't mix them up.

For practically every incident of a "dangerous" e-cig battery blowing up, they were being charged either with a cheapo knock-off charger bought from a dodgy pound store/at a boot sale, or more often someone using a charging plug designed for other devices like mobile phones.

When I help out at my mates place, I end up getting all the returned batteries to test. I've seen some come back in a scary state (leaking, burnt looking etc.) and when I ask the customer they've nearly always been charging them from a mobile phone charger. They insist they've carefully read all the instructions that came with the e-cig - until I quote the bit that says "never use any other type of charging device"!

Ah yes as I thought.
Ok thanks

Going so well. This is my 4th day. Even my hub started too.
He got one from a local shop and has never tried to give up before. Fingers crossed Smile
