Day 18 of cold turkey - when do the cravings stops?

Had my last cigarette on NYD then DH & I went cold turkey Shock It's actually been easier than I thought (initial few days aside) but I'm still finding myself wanting certain 'habit' cigs - that first one or 2 once the kids are in bed & always post dinner with coffee. Any ideas how long before I'll stop thinking about it so much?

I stopped cold turkey almost 7 weeks ago and I still want a cigarette about 2 or 3 times in the daySad I googled and read around and it seems that peoples' experiences range from four months post quit to a year (!) post quit. It's hard isn't it. When I am having a particularly bad crave attack I go to whyquit.com. Helps remind me why I am putting myself through this!! Smile

When started vaping instead of smoking, the hardest 2 cigs to lose were the first one in the morning, and the last one at night. I hadn't gone cold turkey (big respect for you there!) so I was getting all the nicotine I craved, it was just the habit thing.

Even now, almost a year after my last cigarette, I find myself reaching for a non-existent packet occasionally even though I know it would make me throw up - the habit is so strong after nearly 40 years of smoking.

My mom went cold turkey over 20 years ago and has said a few times that she on occasion craves one here and there, especially on really stressful days. However she would never go back because the smell really offends her these days.

I went cold turkey and it was probably nearer a year that i still saw people on tv or fancied one with a drink. Im now 18 months on and dont even think about it.

I finally gave up after 20+ years of smoking 5 and a half years ago and still get the very occasional craving (always when I've had one too many and my rational brain ceases to function). I've had about 10 cigarettes in the past year and really don't fear now that I will ever go back to proper smoking, but it has taken me a very very very long time to get to this point.
