Could anyone help with my Vamo V5 please?

I'm on day 4 of not smoking and am trying to use my V5 as a replacement.

It produces loads of lovely vapour but I can't inhale from it. I've been taking little drags and holding the vapour in my mouth before exhaling which feels nice but I miss the throat hit. If I try to inhale I cough and splutter and wet myself. I didn't have this problem with cigalikes, but they hardly produced any vapour and I didn't like that.

Is there a happy medium out there?

BTW, I've turned that voltage/wattage down to the minimum (3v) and am vaping 12mg eliquid. I was smoking 30 a day so don't want to go lower than that.

Am I doing something wrong or should I try a different mod/ecig?

Thanks to anyone that can help Smile

The technique that suits me is not to draw the vapour from the unit. Difficult to explain, but I put the mouthpiece in my mouth, press the button and allow the vapour to enter my mouth. Then remove the mouthpiece and draw the vapour in.

Try much slower drags, many people who cough & splutter do it because they are taking too much in a short sharp burst?

Quax · 15/01/2015 08:36

Oh, i'm glad you've both suggested that it's my technique rather than the device because I've just ordered another couple of batteries.

Battery is charging at the moment but I'll practice both techniques ASAP. Thank you both.

Slower drags is the way to go. I coughed & spluttered like crazy when I first started vaping.

mawinter · 15/01/2015 14:32

Same here for the coughing. I just started vaping last Saturday and i was pulling things in too quickly and always coughing. Sometimes it even happened when doing nice slow pulls, but I kept at it and it went away. :) Also helpful is to have a glass of water near by.

magimedi · 15/01/2015 15:40

Glass of water is vital - you will find that vaping makes you thirstier, certainly to start with.

Not sure what the tank is Polter. I bought it last year and I can't remember.

I've been practicing taking slower drags and it's helping, so thanks for that advice and for the water recommendation.

Just wanted to update to say that I'm now getting on famously with my V5. I've learnt to take slower drags and I'm now getting a nice throat hit without spluttering.

Thanks for the advice, MN Vapers Smile

Great news, Quax - have you started to feel the financial benefit yet??

Quax · 24/01/2015 20:26

Thanks Optimist.

WRT money: we've had a massive setback this month but my goal is to get to February without borrowing anything. It would have been impossible while I was still smoking.

I've scrutinised every penny we've spent so far this year and by the 10th Jan I'd spent almost £160 on cigarettes. I gave up on the 12th and between now and then all I've spent on vaping is £8.99 for new batteries.

So, while I'm not feeling flush, I'm really pleased that we're staying afloat.

We should be able to afford some treats in February, so I'm looking forward to that.

Thanks for asking (smile)

Ooops, I meant Smile

Also, wanted to say sorry for not replying sooner. I could have sworn I only started this thread yesterday. How time flies when you're vaping having fun.

Wow, the way you talked about vaping is a expert saying. I did not follow you much.

ilovesooty · 18/02/2015 21:28

Why do you keep bumping old threads to make pointless comments?

Dizzbomb · 18/02/2015 21:43

I dont know if you're still having this problem but it could be the pg/vg ratio.

PG produces throat hit.

A lower pg and more vg liquid would reduce harshness on your throat.

If you're still having trouble tell me what liquid youre using and ill tell you what pg/vg ratio it is if you dont know.
