I've been following the nacho kids page on fb for a while and I find so much of their advice is helpful. I'd love to subscribe but the prices are crazy!
Has anybody found anything similar in the uk at a reasonable price?
I went into blending naively thinking it could be similar to a nuclear family but I'm realising that dream was not realistic. I need to find a way to adjust to this family life so we can all be happier.
Thanks x

What is it you want to get out of their subscription?

They just seem to have loads of really helpful advice.
I grew up with a dream of a family of my own and it's all I ever wanted. I was with my kids dad for 17 years but had to leave as it became toxic.
Losing that dream was hard. I didn't expect a blended family to feel as challenging as it is.
My hubby and his ex have incredibly different parenting styles which I find so hard to watch.
sc is also just not the sort of personality I find easy to be around.
I guess it's reassurance in how I'm feeling and support in how to let go of things.

It's not specifically about Nacho but you can listen to The Stepmum Space podcast (for disclosure it's mine!) It's completely free and many have found it helpful x

Sorry to hijack this thread but I’ve just listened to Series 3, Ep 6 ‘The Reluctant Stepmum’. Wow, that was a hard listen.

He left his ex with a newborn baby, got with a woman who didn’t like/want kids and moved in with her within 3 weeks of the divorce being finalised. And then she was complaining about ‘hating them being there’ even though his children never stay the night!

I struggled with step parenting (I no longer have to do it, their dad was the problem, not them). I could identify with some of her feelings and recognise the feeling of chaos when there’s kids in the house that aren’t yours who you’re trying to create bonds with, but I’ve never heard anything as cold / brutally honest as that. When she said ‘we both had to learn how to parent’ ‘we weren’t sure what time to get them up for school’ (his eldest was 10?!) I was gobsmacked. GOBSMACKED. Genuinely eye opening.

Well done on staying measured because I’d have gone IN! I’d love a follow up to this episode when she has her baby, who is not allowed to be referred to as ‘the sibling’ by DH because this baby is ‘theirs’. Genuinely such interesting listening.

It was definitely a less common point of view from a Stepmum but I always try and give people the space to be themselves in a judgement free space...

I don’t understand what you mean by they have different parenting styles. From each other or both of them from you?

Lemonmelon1 · 06/11/2024 17:46

The ex has a very different parenting style to mine. My hubby just doesn't think and goes along with whatever she says.
I am likely on the spectrum and find it hard to when things are done so differently.

That is hard if your DH just goes along with her. We have our rules at DPs house and when we are out together. Me and DP have a similar parenting style and we talked about how it would be when I started spending time with his DDs.
I always wonder if the DDs go back to their mum and say I told them off.

Hi! I know I'm late to the game by about a year. I just happened to run across this thread. I'm wondering how @Lemonmelon1 is doing now! Did you try Nachoing?
