Has anyone else read this book? I've been having a few problems with DH over compensating ect and I've started it. I'm also reading it with DH and we're finally talking instead of arguing.

I also feel like I'm not a monster and my feelings are completely valid!

Brilliant book!! It was really helpful for me, I even had DH read it so that he may be able to understand some of my feelings/emotions.

Yep - massively helpful for me. 👍

Yes, I found it incredibly helpful.

If your DHs also read the book with you did they make long term changes?

Mine did, although to be fair he was always open to change right from the very start, it was just that we both fell into the trap of unrealistic societal expectations around step parenting/ blended families. We also had couples counselling. I doubt the book would facilitate long term change in anyone who genuinely didn't already want that for themselves, it just helped me and DH to identify the dynamics at play.

Mine didn’t. I suggest he take a look and have a read but head in the sand, etc.

I’ve since made long term changes which he’s had to accept.

My DH can see where he's going wrong when I put it to him in the right way...but feels helpless to change it. He has agreed to go to counselling and I'm hoping he will be able to work through it with a neutral third party.

My counsellor believes his and dss dm are damaging his ds and his ds has attachment disorder from lack of boundaries and over indulgence. I'm not sure dh will be able to see what he's doing and his part because of the guilt.
