Just that really. DH keeps telling me that when SD has children , I'll be GM Na Toth. I disagree.

Any thoughts?

I used to call my stepgrandad by his name - my grandfather died before I was born so I didn’t have a grandfather on that side of the family.

I don’t think a name effects the type of relationship you have with someone - being called ‘grandad’ doesn’t make you one (thinking of my son’s grandad who has seen him 4 times in his life)

My SD is about to have her first and I will be GM, her mom (if they are speaking again then) will be Nan and so is the fathers mom.

When SD asked me I was very clear that my name would do (both SD and DS call me by my name) as I didn't want to upset anyone - esp as her mom is very competitive. I explained that we have a great relationship and that names aren't that important and it would be the same for LO but it was really important to her so I will happily be GM.

My DSM and DSF are Grandma and Grandad to my DC. My DF had 2 DC with DSM. I don't want my DC to feel any less of a grandchild in that household than my stepsister's children are.

As a child I had a Grandpa and a step-Grandpa on my mum's side. I called them both Grandpa .

My children have 3 granddads and 3 nannys we differentiate by their first names so granddad ted and nanny May ect. (thats not their real names obviously) but that's only because my step-parents are happy with that.
