My DS and my DSD same age, same year at school are driving me to drink tonight/today!

I swear they both ingested the evil gene!

DS pushing buttons all week, language, attitude homework, food , mess - lost his ipad, x box etc.

DSD doing the same at her mothers house - has lost playstation privileges and lap top .

Rules the same in all houses.

so the devious little buggers face time each other, she brings her laptop and playstation and find the two of them together like little co conspirators. DS is on her laptop and Playstation plugged in and she is on DS i pad and X box because the ban did not cover these types of techno!!!!!

Spoke to her Mum earlier and asked what we should do collectively. Agreed for ingenuity they get to keep respective stuff for the weekend and then they both get a ban for 10 days on a list of techno that covers everything!!

Dealing with one is bad enough - 2 is turning me grey

Teens!! A law to themselves...

Really glad to see a thread where there is a positive relationship with a DSD parent.. hats off to you both sound like you co parent with her mum really well!

My DSS is nearly 16 and thankfully got over the awkward being a pain in the arse phase really quickly.... hope they do as well!

Well done. It's very clear that you are all agreeing on parenting.
Of course they will be devious.
🍷 🌟 to all of you
Well obviously the adults !

At least they seem to get along great, that certainly is one less headache to deal with! Yes, teenagers are a law in themselves! I think what gets to me most is how after a crisis, things get better, DS regain his ability to communicate in more than grunts, trades the'its all your fault' for the exceptional 'thank you', is found turning down his xbox and in front of his desk studying, giving me this ultimate sense of peace, happiness and security and then his football team loses a game in a bad way, he himself has a bad game, one teacher makes a comment he doesn't like and he is back to grunts, it's all your fault, and I can't be bothered, life is horrible and zi don't care mood which se nds me back to this mix feeling of despair, worry and frustration.

I hang on to the fact that the latter will continue to reduce whilst the former takes over... One day soon!

Brilliant thinking from both of them - we think they will both go into politics!!

Have to say SM and I met early on - had a glass of wine and a meal and discussed kids, rules - her EX/my DP - compromised on a few things on both sides and it works.

We agreed on no knee jerk reactions until the other one had spoken to the other - ergo telling tales, new alleged rules in her house / my house etc. Kids are devious, as we have both found out and we have had a few laughs over their ingenuity! For example: DCs/SDCs thought it would be fun to turn the oven off mid cooking supper- result no proper supper. I ranted with some fairly choice words and they got 2 rounds of toast each and an apple for tea and I walked to the fish and chip shop for DP and one SDC who was out of the house all day ( chip shop is a big treat in our house)

You can imagine this got translated into we got no tea and she ate fish and chips on her own, we were starving!!! Phone call later - a chuckle and in complete agreement with actions and she gave them toast again that night!!!

When things are tough - GM dying on her side, we spoke regularly - I knew what the SDCs were dealing with and could work with her to help them, when things are good may be 1-2 per month.

I have to say I find this forum depressing at the rigidness of both sides, the unnecessary barriers put up and absolutely condescending rudeness some people display. It may help that my DCS first SM /OW was awful and there was no relationship. The current incarnation of an SM for my DCS has adopted the same approach as I do with SDCS Mum and life just happens with a few extra phone calls to another adult.

They need a new hobby! How about you challenge them to make a cake together?
