My daughters dad is not in the picture and never has been.
There's an extended restraining order and the court ordered a no contact order without me even needing to say anything due to safeguarding and mental health problems on his part.

Dp has been in her life since she was 11 months old. He is all she has known and she now happily calls him dad. He is hands on and involved and lives with us.

The problem I have is that dd is due her pre school boosters. I don't want to leave too late as there is a measles outbreak in our area and she is starting a new Nursery next week. The only day they can offer us appointments for her boosters is a day I work. I've taken a lot of time off the last few weeks for her hospital appointments which are ongoing.

Dp is off that day and has offered to take her for them. I trust him fully he is a fantastic dad but can he legally do this? Can he legally take her by himself and consent to her immunisations?

If not what do we need to put in place so that he can as I'm sure this won't be the only time this kind of situation comes up.

Thanks

Anyone can take your child for immunisations. My childminder took my DS.
They don’t ask you who you add to the child at any doctors appointments I’ve ever been to with my kids either.
Just make sure he has her red book

I've seen grandparents take grandchildren to boosters.

I would ring the surgery and check as surely only someone with parental responsibility can take the child? It will take 2 mins to query by telephone rather than potentially a wasted trip met with disappointment on the day.

A a step mum I cam take my dsc to apts but I cannot give consent for treatment as I hold no PR. Am guessing the immunisations would be the same.

However, with my own dd the dentist just needed me to call and agree to treatment so the Dr may allow you to attend on a day that's convenient and sign a consent form so dp can take her

Surely you booking the appointment is you giving consent for the immunisations. Whoever you choose to take her on your behalf shouldn’t matter.

Your partner can take her, don't worry.
