Step child going into army in march

We have a good relationship with my husbands son/my stepson but unfortunately not with his mother. Step son finished his GCSEs and got his results in August, he's been accepted in the army from March - do we still continue to pay maintenance for him until then ? Or as he's technically left school do our payments now stop ?

I really wouldn't stop paying. That child is still going to be reliant, cost money and is still under 18. Support the mum in supporting her son, she has up to now, why would she stop.

"Child maintenance payments usually stop when the child reaches 16 (or 20 if they’re in full-time education up to A-level or equivalent)."

He may be joining the Army, but at his age it is the AFC, which is a college and counts as education.

He needs to continue until his DS turns 18 and leaves the college behind to become fully deplorable.

Depending on the level of education child support could be payable up to 20.

But he will be fed, housed and wear uniform and earn £800-1000 per month? I don't see why he will need child maintenance on top. I would check it and then save the CM in an account for later.
