First Christmas and presents

It's the first Christmas with my partner and I have asked if he minds if I get his DD and DS small gifts from me (joint gifts I guess is a whole other bridge to cross at a later date) and he has said he doesn't mind at all.

The question I have is what sort of a budget would you allocate? I don't want to appear tight, but equally I don't want to appear to be throwing cash at them and upset their mother (we have a good relationship so far).

Do you live together?

If not I'd go with similar to what you would spend on a niece or nephew.

Very recently, yes. I've never had nieces or nephews to buy for so still clueless. The only family children I have had is my cousin's daughters who lived with me part time after she died - I had joint residency with their grandparents and had them every weekend and school holiday from me being 21. I used to spend around £50 on them until they started looking at more expensive presents and then £100. Obviously I won't be spending that much...

Would around £30 be reasonable? I was thinking £20ish on a main present and then a few little stocking filler type gifts.

I would think £20-£30 is fine

Absolutely £20-30 would be fine....and Lego bits are always acceptable!

I agree £20-£30 is fine but I'd stick to one present as they'll probably get tons of stocking fillers already and stocking fillers are kind of (if the mum wants to think of it that way) venturing into parent territory.

Totally fine - but agree 1 present.
DH got both my boys books the first Christmas we were together (he'd only recently met them at that point).

£30 max
