Birthday present for new boyfriend's son

I've been seeing a lovely, lovely man for a couple of months now. Obviously it's very early days, but I've a really strong feeling that he and I are in it for the long haul :)

Anyway, it's his son's 19th soon. I've met him several times and we get on really well (again I know it's really early days). I want to get him a little present just from me - under £20.

Would that be weird?

I'd get him a card and write a friendly message. You don't know if this is the long haul. Also even if it is, your friend's son may not yet be ready to take this on board. There is plenty of time...

It's only a few weeks, so I'd do no more than a voucher in a card (nice, but not too personal) but only if I'd met him.

You're right, I don't need to be too personal. I'm not trying to win him over, but it would seem weird not to acknowledge his birthday at all.

I've never dated anyone with children before, so it's all new to me.

I was going to say iTunes too. It's my go-to present for all the 'youths' in my life! Or cinema vouchers if his life isn't dominated by all things Apple.

I'd get him some alcohol of his liking (no point in getting wine if he doesn't drink it).
