DSD covered in bites AGAIN :(

So for the nth time DSD has arrived at our house covered in bites. This is the worst they've been yet, all over her stomach, all down her leg and across one shoulder.

We were concerned so took her to the pharamasist to check that they were indeed bites and nothing worse. They have given her anti histamine to stop the itching, and we go through calamine lotion like you wouldn't beleive!

I am fuming that poor DSD is going through this again. They have three cats and a dog, an 18 month old baby.

How can she keep getting so badly bitten? It's every few weeks, just as the last lot get better she gets more. I've stripped her bed here and washed on a hot wash and we don't have any pets.

I know there isn't much I can do, just frustrated, and sorry for my poor constantly itchy DSD.

Sounds to be like her main home is infested with fleas or bedbugs :-(

Surely allowing a child to live like that is a form of neglect? Have you spoken to her mum? What has she said about it?

MrsKranky · 12/04/2014 14:37

I don't get involved in discussing things with her mum, that is solely DP's job. He 'mentions' it when she collects, but that's it. Ie. DSD has bites again' and his ex just replies 'oh, right'. And that is the end of the conversation. DSD has a much littler sister, and there are twins on their way too, it can't be good having little ones at risk of bites can it? This last lot are the worst I've seen, they're really uncomfortable for her and look so angry. Sad I wish I could make DP's ex do something.

I could understand if it was a one off, but it's all the time.

If they're bed bug bites then they travel so I'd worry that you'll end up infested. Are the bites in groups of three?

Poor DSD Sad

MrsKranky · 12/04/2014 14:50

They're just all over there are more than three IYSWIM they are in swathes sort of.

Me & DP don't have any either, we check all the time as I am worried about anything coming here & infesting us. Bedding & pjs etc are washed after each weekend before she comes back as hot as I can.

Honestly, instinct says it's all the pets they have, they roam a lot, and I wonder if it's fleas? DP tried to ask her if anyone else has them, or if the animals sleep in the bed etc but she just gets upset. She is 7 by the way.

We had this with dss.
His dm told him they were from our house (we had just moved) as it couldn't possibly be to do with their cat.
He told her that none of us had bites so it was more than likely her pets.
In the end he dropped off some sort of treatment one time with dss and it's much better now.

There was also the time she claimed dss' bad chest was caused by my dp smoking (outside), and it was obviously nothing to do with the mould all over his bedroom at hers.

Just had collection. Midges from a walk got under her clothes apparently. And the bedbugs have gone now they've 'got rid of that manky old mattress' she had Hmm.

Might have made a point of saying 'oh we took her to the pharamasist as we were concerned'. Her reply was 'oh yeah I guess I should have mentioned that..'

It must be so difficult for you sending her back to a house like that but now she's given you the midges as a reason and told you she's changed the mattress if she get any more bites you can pull her up on it and tell her to sort the fleas?
