I have been using this board for a while and think its a great source of support and advice for step-parents, and I have had my own fair share of issues!

but this evening when I was brushing my 5 year old DSD's hair before bed she asked me to guess who her bestest-bestest-ever friend was. so I guessed one of her friends from school, and she told me it was me!! Shock Grin

made me feel Grin

just wanted to share something nice Smile

Aww its lovely when they show they love you. Dsd is very loving towards me and it makes me feel proud.

I know, have had a rough couple of months recently after my DS was born so was so lovely to hear her say that.

Aw, this is so nice!

So happy for you, addicted children instinctively know who loves and cares for them, so you are clearly right up there. Great! Very happy for you.

That's just the nicest thing, it's made my day and it's not even me!

How lovely to hear a good story.
I had a brilliant week with my DSC over Christmas too. They alternate years with DP and their Mum and 2 years ago when they stayed from Xmas Day to NY Day they were so foul it nearly split us up.
2 years on and I can honestly say they were a pleasure to have around and I even missed them when they went home!

This is a slightly different situation, but I became a step daughter when about 4yo. My Dad and stepmum brought me up. She and I had a very difficult relationship, faults on both sides.

But now I'm an adult (and particularly since becoming a mum), we are much closer and I appreciate all that she did for me and the sacrifices she made.

But most of all, I remember that (with one sad exception), whenever I needed help, support, advice or for someone to sooth my fears, it was my stepmum who was there for me.

Thank you (step)mum. x
