this year ds1 will be with dp and I on christmas day, then leave on boxing day morning to be with his dad for 4 days. we will still have the dts (13mo) with us, but given previous years suspect it will feel really quiet without him. does anyone have any good suggestions for what we can do to keep busy and keep the lonelies at bay? we don't have any other family and haven't been here long so don't know anyone locally well enough to intrude on their christmas.

Sorry, what is dts? I presume you mean your baby? So you have each other and your baby? I would make the most of it and enjoy some time just chilling out. Going for long walks in the countryside and snuggling up on the sofa. You have a lot more company than some people do over Christmas, so I would make the most of what you do have.

thanks redhen. you're right, we do have more than some. but, despite that, we have felt lonely when ds1 left before, so I thought I'd ask in case anyone here has ideas. dts means twins.

Have a rest! Enjoy the peace and quiet!
When my dc go to their dad on Christmas Day I have always cried into drank a bottle of wine and passed out!
This year maybe different though as we will have DP's kids here when mine go so I may drink 2 bottles!!!

Oh God.... Just chill out. Surely, up to Boxing Day you'll have "full on"?

It's tough for kids at Xmas.....the whole "two homes" thing. Tough for parents too!
