Hi everyone. I've been with DH for nearly 5 years, and in that time we've had DSD every other weekend. She's always been naughty around me, but like an angel when DH is there as well! Luckily, DH is supportive of me as he understands how difficult it must be. We got married in June, and her behaviour has got worse since then, obviously she realises I'm here to stay. We're expecting our 1st baby in May, and she's reacted well so far, although I'm worried it will be a different story when baby comes along. Little bit of background, she has recently been diagnosed with aspergers, so its a bit more difficult to control her behaviour.
Is anyone in a similiar situation to us?
Sorry I've gone on a bit Blush

Noticed no one replied yet! I've two DSS that are also here every other weekend. The older one is now a teenager and although never diagnosed with anything I (and unprompted, others) have commented on his 'strangeness' which I've likened to Asperger's. When he discovered I was expecting he said he would stop visiting - I think this was to punish his father. Anyway to cut a long story short his mother likes her free weekends and he's been made to come here. At first he ignored the baby but as she's done more he wants to interact with her. Hopefully your DSD will be curious and I think you're off to a good start if she's reacted well so far. Think it's good to just keep talking to her about it and let her feel involved - take her shopping to buy outfits for baby as well as little something for her. Good luck - personally I think step-parenting is one of the hardest things for people to do.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, it is a very difficult job. We're trying to keep her as involved as possible, she is attending the 20 week scan with us, and I think this will really help her to see the baby as a real person!! :)
