Micro Cruiser or Sprite for a petite four year old?

Hi!

My four year old girl is small for her age (around 98cm). She’s very keen to get a proper scooter for her birthday. Even though she is small she is a real daredevil and her gross motor skills are very good for her age. Maybe due to her bigger older brother she wants to copy in just about everything. She’s currently got a frog balance bike that’s she races around with on the pump track (soon to get pedals).

She’s got a rubbish cheap two wheel scooter that’s really no good at the moment (bought to temporarily replace her three wheel decent one that got stolen) but we’re keen to get her a decent one so she can keep up. we’d like to stick with two wheels as we feel she’s outgrown the three wheel stage and we’re keen to make this new scooter last for a few years! I’ve spotted the micro cruiser and micro sprite online. I’m leaning towards the cruiser as I’m hoping the big wheels will be good on bumpier tracks and help her get the speed she wants. It doesn’t necessarily have to work for the pump track (although would be great if it did) but some bumpier forest roads or a little try up and down some little ramps in the skatepark would be great. Will be used for the occasional school run as well.

Has anyone got a (petite) four year old who owns a cruiser, is it ridiculously large and cumbersome or would a 4 year old of about her size fit ok on it?
would also love to hear people’s experiences with the cruiser and sprite to help me make up my mind.

Thanks,

Lisa

My six year old has a Sprite, and I think my four year old (about 101 cm) would be okay with it, although the longer length might take some getting used to. Completely fine on some little ramps or the easier bits of our local pump track (might do more, but we haven't tried – it's not really her thing). Does okay on some pretty rough tarmac, but we would always take bikes over scooters for unsealed tracks and paths.

The minimum handlebar height on the Cruiser is about 10cm higher than the Sprite (74 cm versus 63 cm, I think), plus it's heavier, so I'd be reluctant to get one for my four year old without trying it out. The weight will also make it more work, plus harder to manage on the pump track if that's something she likes.
