I'm thinking of enrolling my son to start swimming. He's 4 months old. Is this too young?

Not at all. The earlier the better.

If you'd like to take baby to swimming lessons and you'll get something out of it then go ahead but no life saving skills will be learnt at 4 months old.

Getting a baby used to being in water is a really important part of the process of learning to swim. At 4 months old, babies can learn a lot!

Depends what you want to get out of it! If you’re looking for baby groups to get out and be social and think swimming sounds fun then go for it. If it’s about water confidence then that too but there’s no need to enrol in a formal lesson for that because you can just take them yourselves. If you want them to actually learn to swim then they’re not going to do that in a mum and baby class. Minimum age for proper swimming lessons is 3 years old but 4 is probably more realistic for a lot of kids because they need the physical capability combined with the ability to listen and follow instructions.

Not at all! Lots of babies love splashing around in the water and an early start can only benefit him. DD loves her baby lessons and she graduated through the lessons and by the time she started school she was pretty good.
