Hi, my daughter is almost 4 years old, and I’m looking for advice on choosing her first 4-wheel bicycle. Are there any particular brands or types that are best for beginners? I’d also love to hear any tips on what size would be best and if there are any features I should look for to ensure it’s safe and comfortable for her. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

4 wheel?

my kids rode Isla bikes at 4, ( no stabilisers, but began on balance bikes)
if I was buying now I’d probably go for a woom bike.

Do you mean something like this? Baby Balance Bike with 4 Wheels and Limited Steering - Costway, or a pedal kart thing like this Tommy Toys Kids Ride On Pedal Go Kart Racer Green | Wilko (Not recommendations, just trying to work out what you're seeking.)

If your daughter doesn't have any motor skills issues, she'd probably be best starting 'cycling' on a balance bike, to learn the balance skills. Getting one with a (rear) brake is great, as then the only thing they have to add is pedalling. There are bikes specifically designed to cover balance biking to early pedalling, some examples here Kids bikes that will grow with your child - Cycle Sprog.

This cute balance bike will be a great gift for toddlers from 1-2 years old.

as your dd is nearly 4, I’d buy a (very) cheap 2-wheeled, pedal bike (free cycle often has them). Make sure it’s too small for her… I only realised with dc3 that it’s easier to learn on a small bike.

I know the current view is balance bikes are the best way to learn, but my dc were unable to get the idea of pedalling. And stabilisers meant they couldn’t balance.

Once she’s got the balance and pedalling thing, then buy a decent Frog or similar.

I'd just buy a balance bike. My son went straight from that to a proper bike. Saves all those middle steps!
