Coach’s kids on team

My son has joined a local sports club , which he enjoys but isn’t too competitive he just does it for fun.
the coach has got her two children on the team and I’ve noticed that they are the kids that get the trophy’s/player of the match quite often etc.
i know they are good and may deserve these and the mum likes to be involved (which is nice that she can do this) but I feel like it’s a bit wrong to have her own kids picked to play every game etc . Our kids are at the same school and I’ve noticed any school sports events she’s always in the middle of and her kids get to participate in everything in the good positions.
its starting to get a bit annoying and it seems at the age of 8 all kids should get a chance to have a go regardless of talent.
i don’t know if this is typical , and I know the coaches do a lot of work so maybe I’m being silly but does this kind of thing annoy anyone else?

Get used to it or volunteer your own time, sorry! Coaches privilege.

My dad coached my brother’s team. Poor boy always got the worst positions that nobody else wanted, mostly on the subs bench, only got player of the match once when dad was off and a different dad stepped in to coach.

Why else do they give up their time to coach if it's not so their kids can participate.

If you think it unfair start your own team and then have your child sat out most the match/game. Would that be better?

Tbh it sounds like you're suggesting they shouldn't get things they deserve because their mum volunteers - which is pretty shit.

This kind of complaint is why both the playscheme I ran and the Lego club I helped at folded.

Where are the children of volunteers meant to go on these times when they are not included, but their parent is no doubt still expected to be there?

Poor boy. Our football coaches son got one of the main awards this season. And why not. He definitely deserved it. Why should he be penalised just because his dad coaches.

I don’t mean it against the kids and of course the coach is putting the time and effort in , i just mean sometimes it feels as though she’s putting her kids in all the best positions and it’s all about her kids rather than the team as a whole and some of the others seem to be sidelined (and they are good players) . I just thought with teaching a team you would be trying to treat everyone fair and not pushing your own agenda for your kids to be picked for every game ; I’m not saying they don’t deserve to be but they are 8 and not at premier league level. I guess this is the world of sports teams I’m not used to it as my daughter didn’t really have this as non of her teams coaches had their own kids in so I never noticed. This mums on everything which is great that she has the time (she doesn’t work) and it’s the same with the school events , she is quite controlling with ideas if anyone tries to organise a mums night out she takes over , always takes over all the teachers gifts etc when others have offered to do it for a change, it might be just I need a break from the same kids , some
people like to be in charge of everything I guess

Where would the kids be if they weren't on the team? Does mum have childcare at that time? Mine would be "difficult" on the sidelines... Assuming she's a volunteer rather than a paid coach that is...
