Looking for new trainers

Dear wise Mumsnetters, can anyone recommend a reasonably-priced
brand of running trainers for someone with quite flat arches, who over-pronates as they walk/run? I’ve tried wearing supportive insoles but they are too thick for most trainers to fit comfortably.

I’ll be trying to pass the “bleep test” at the end of the year so definitely need something suitable for running, but not long-distance running. I don’t really want to spend more than £80 but appreciate I may be being too optimistic.

The key thing is lots of support for the arch and instep. Can anyone help?

You could try these...
www.altrarunning.eu/uk/why-altra, I like them, find they have good ergonomic design and say they help with overpronation. They have a sale on and some are at your price point.

I wonder whether its worth asking a podiatrist though as flat arches are a particular thing which no standard running shoe will fix fully (though some are better than others). They could make you a special insert (probably another expense though I appreciate)

Those look ace! Thank you I’ll have a look. I’m definitely not into serious running territory but may have to go down the specialist insole route one day, as the foot pain is gradually getting worse with age.

Good luck with your bleep test. Smile

p.s choose dynamic support not neutral if you go for the Altras...

Will do! Thanks
