Prescription goggles

So previously I have been swimming with no glasses or contact lenses and just goggles which was a bit fuzzy but doable. But my eyesight is getting worse. Today I wore my contact lenses with my goggles (took them out and binned then straight after) and being able to see clearly was amazing!!! So I was thinking of buying some prescription goggles but are they any good, where do you get them from? I had a quick Google and there are loads of places selling them but some are really cheap, others pretty pricey. Any advice?

Why did you bin your lenses?

iemma321q · 07/09/2017 18:55

I got mine from Specsavers.

My local optician. Cost about £25 and they are great.

I got some from specsavers for £25. They are single vision.

She binned her lenses because they were probably dailies which you shouldn't wear in water. If they were monthlies then you would need to sterilise before wearing them again. Some very nasty bugs, for eyes, live in all types of water

I get mine from Prescription goggles - I have the Aquasphere eagles and the Sutton Mirrors

Mine were from spec savers I think and are amazing!! I wish I'd bought them years earlier.
I do look a bit daft walking to the pool with goggles already on but not as daft as I would falling over so I'm classing it as a win :)

Shit, I always swim with contacts and goggles. It never occured to me to do otherwise!

Morepeasplease · 07/09/2017 19:37

My opticians do prescription goggles but many people buy their goggles elsewhere (professional swimmers mainly) and then the optician change the lens.

I got mine from the opticians in my local Asda. My eyes are 1 degree different so I just get the lower number (both lenses are the same strength) and that's good enough for the pool. I think you can get them with different strengths in each eye but I didn't think it was worth it. If I swam every day/outside then I might, but not just for ploughing up and down the pool once a week.
