New trainers. Feel comfy and supportive but causing shin pain

Would be grateful for some advice. I speed walk for 1 hour a day. Decided to treat myself to some good trainers and went to Asics. I was advised which ones to get (told to get running ones not walking ones) and they felt really comfy. I wore them for the first time yesterday for a 40 min walk. My feet felt lovely in them and I seemed to be able to walk faster then usual. After I got back though my shins were throbbing and I ache between the top of my foot and my ankle at the front.

These trainers feel far more supportive round my foot and ankle than my old Sketchers Go Runs and they're designed for moderate over-pronation (which the guy said I have).

Do you reckon the pain is because I'm just adapting to a new fit/shape of trainer or do you think they are likely not to be right for me. I've not been able to go walking today because I'm too sore. I've saved up for ages to get good trainers and hope to goodness this is not a total waste of money. Do I go back to the shop or is it not their problem? Has anyone had a similar problem when switching to new trainers? If so, were they ok in the end?

TIA
