YES! Plenty of signage from pretty much everywhere to everywhere at the moment. If you get off at Stratford there are huge pink signs to all the different 'bits' of the Olympic Park.

sassytheFIRST · 31/08/2012 10:52

YY.might be called Stratford INternational?

SoupDragon · 31/08/2012 10:54

Thanks.

Yes, I was in London yesterday, picking my tickets up, so saw all the signs all over the place - helpful but they didn't specify which specific station to head for which I needed to know for planning purposes :). Looks like we need to catch a 740am train on a Sunday (FFS)

I"m not faffing about with West Ham and walking as the planning things keep suggesting.

You will keep being told to get off at West Ham (and walk about 25 minutes!) even when you are on the tube but Stratford was fine when I went to the Olympics. I'm off to the Paralympics tomorrow and intend to go to Stratford!!!

NotGeoffVader · 31/08/2012 10:55

Do you know, Sassy, I went through there yesterday and didn't even notice whether it said that? The announcement on the train just said 'Stratford'. Plenty of info on tfl.

SoupDragon · 31/08/2012 10:55

See, it was the International one that confused me but that's a mainline rather than underground. Having looked, that involves an extra train change... hmmm...

SoupDragon · 31/08/2012 10:58

Oh, I'm really confused which route to take now :o

Are you going on sunday? Me too!

There are a million helpful volunteers who will smile and show you where to go.

FamiliesShareGerms · 31/08/2012 11:04

Stratford International has the javelin trains that whisk you to St Pancras. Stratford has the tube, DLR etc. Either is fine and well signposted. Not that busy during the Olympics, so should be fine for the Paralympics

bisjaralympics · 31/08/2012 11:34

Don't use the TFL Paralympic planner. It tried to send me on a 45 min weird journey when all I had to do was walk two mins from the hotel to the tube and travel one stop!

Underground is easy and well signed. You won't need to show your travelcards to get out at Stratford as they leave the ticket barriers open.

NotGeoffVader · 31/08/2012 11:52

Soup, where are you travelling from? If you don't want to post TMI on here, PM me and I'll try to sort it out for you. :)

MackerelOfFact · 31/08/2012 11:56

bisjaralympics I'm glad I'm not the only one who found the TfL Paralympic Planner utterly bonkers! I am completely perplexed by it, even though I've used public transport in London pretty much every day of my life for the past decade and know most journeys without even looking them up. Hmm I would be terrified if I was a visitor.

Basically, I'm just totally ignoring it and hoping there's no good reason it's not sending me any of the obvious routes!

Ignore the special TFL planner and use the usual one. The other one seems to be designed to send you on weird routes to weird stations to reduce traffic. West Ham seems particularly mad as the Jubilee is crammed full by the time it gets there. There is lots of signage, and nice volunteers if you have any questions.

Mackerel same here! It was trying to send me to stations I'd never heard of and nowhere near where I needed to be. I booked a hotel in Canary Wharf as it was one stop on the tube to the O2 Arena. When I had a look on the Paralympic planner it sent me off to south east London overground trains. All very odd.

I work next to Tower Bridge and get the Jubilee Line to London Bridge. It is busy but not unbearably so. I used the Central Line to travel to and from the Olympic Park for different events and that was fine too.

Thread hijack - have just started another thread about this - are they strict about photo id when picking up tickets? DH has booked ours and his passport has expired and his driving licence has gone to the DVLA for renewal

Yes, it's here, only a couple of months out of date so fingers crossed.

mummytime · 31/08/2012 16:36

They didn't ask for photo ID for me, just the card I'd bought them with and the confirmation number.

SoupDragon · 31/08/2012 18:10

LOL - i was asked for photo ID but not the card I bought them with :o
