Ganglion cyst popped!

I’ve had a huge and very prominent ganglion cyst on my wrist for months and months. Over an inch in diameter and very unsightly!

GP said I should leave it alone, and under no circumstances should it be bashed.

Well I lost patience earlier. Short sharp bash with my phone and it popped! So satisfying!

I've never felt such disappointment in my life.
I need to see the pictures 😭

Internally popped? I’m hoping your skin didn’t split…don’t think that tends to happen. Fingers crossed it doesn’t come back. Well done for getting rid.

Traditionally it used to be a bible which was used. Good to see the modern day alternative of a phone works 😃

Oh I am sorry! No picture! Realise now I have committed a Mumsnet sin.

It did indeed burst internally. Amazing how a rock hard golf ball, immediately dispersed. It was delicious.

The book trick never worked for me, so very delighted that a sharp tap from my iPhone did the trick 😂

My DH used to have one on his wrist and I bashed it years ago with his Mum’s Bible, and saw it disappear ! I am still chuffed

I had one on the outer side of my wrist for ages and it was sore, too. Tentatively tried bashing it with a heavy book as per the old wives' remedy but no good. Then one day I tripped up and, in falling, instinctively put out that hand to cushion my landing. It must have been at the right angle for the force to pop the ganglion internally because when I picked myself up from the floor, it had completely disappeared.

I havevon on my wrist that gets very sore at times because its over a tendon. GP refused to refer me for remove due to the location. It comes and goes and at the moment it's about half size. I saw an episode of Dr Pimple Potter in which she removed them from 2 patients. The next day they'd both returned

I have looked into DIY methods for popping a ganglion cyst as I’ve got one on my finger joint. My finger looks like a witch’s. GP is reluctant to refer for a surgical removal because I’m not in pain. So in his view, it would be all risk and no benefit. The advice is definitely not to do DIY because you risk infection leading to irreversible damage. Where will the fluid go now?

I had a tendon sheath ganglion that burst 3 times and kept refilling. Typically the last time was the day before my booked surgery to remove it properly and I didn't notice so went through all the hassle of going to the hospital for them to say they wouldn't do anything

I went to see my doctor some years ago because I had a lump on a finger joint (I had never heard of ganglion cysts back then).
He examined it, said what it was and that he could sort it out - and with no warning gave it a really hard squeeze!
I gave a loud yell with the pain which must have been heard throughout our small Health Centre as it popped.

I have one on a thumb joint. When it gets really hard I massage it, and it goes down. Then the cycle starts all over again. It’s not painful, so I’ve never seen a GP about it (I have plenty of other joint issues to be getting on with.)
