I have something similar. Had antibiotics from GP (because of the redness around spots) but they didn’t change a thing. I thought it’s maybe some type of eczema.

okright · 05/01/2025 22:38

Any Shampoo, conditioner, soap, fake tan, laundry powder or fabric softener changes?

Kaleidoscopic101 · 05/01/2025 22:38

Are you using anything new like new products...looks like it could be a bacterial thing but weird you both have it?

Totaleclipseofthemind · 05/01/2025 22:39

Keep hair tied up and see if this helps.

Looks like you both have it on the back of the neck mostly.

SensibleSigma · 05/01/2025 22:40

Have you been hot? DS used to get a sweat/heat rash like that. Think sitting on a plastic car seat.

It tended to spread beyond the initial area- so he’d get sweaty in his hairline, start spots, then they’d spread down his face.

KittenPause · 05/01/2025 22:43

This is often caused by hair conditioner

As much as you think you've washed it off you really haven't

Try not using conditioner in the shower or bath for a couple of weeks or so

winewolfhowls · 05/01/2025 22:58

I had something similar and was told by doctors it was either a viral rash or an Allergy and they suggested something in the grass when we had been camping (not likely in this weather though)! Whatever it was went eventually after about a fortnight but within that time kept flaring up and down.

Tiredallthetimeneedsleep · 05/01/2025 23:30

Thanks for the replies. Not used anything different in last six weeks. DD not the best at rinsing hair properly after conditioner but I am so it can't be that. Thinking of getting DD a pixie hair cut as she's not great at taking care of her hair. Not been anywhere hot ( never been camping either). Had antibiotics, anti histamines, cream, steroid shampoo, the latest thing the Dr has got us to try is scabies medication ( even though he told us it's not that , but worth a try to see if it helps. I had to take 6 tablets yesterday and poor DD had to have cream all over for 12 hours until she could wash it off). Am baffled

Bedbug bites? have any of you been away overnight? or bought anything fabric second hand?

Anonymus89 · 06/01/2025 11:46

Bless her...
Can you get her to dermatologist? This could be acne, like hormonal acne or nodular acne for example. Google up some pictures

Try some home remedies - bath in Epsom salts, tea tree oil.

theduchessofspork · 09/02/2025 11:28

Not sure but take her to a dermatologist privately

GPs aren’t great at Dermotology and often give wrong diagnoses that make things worse ( I once got steroids for peri oral dermatitis which I now know is Not A Good Idea)

dreamingbohemian · 09/02/2025 11:32

If you both have it that suggests either some product is causing it or some kind of infestation. I agree go private, GPs are notoriously not great at dermatology.

hellsbells99 · 20/04/2025 09:28

Try using head and shoulders shampoo and putting something like caneston on the rash - possibly fungal infection?

Fly1ngG1raffe · 20/04/2025 09:34

Do I understand correctly that you both have this?

have you been in a hot tub/swimming pool/paddling pool? It could be ‘hot tub folliculitis’.

Dellspoem · 21/04/2025 01:15

A reaction to something in your hair/ hair is scratchy/ styled in a way that’s irritated your skin

LoafofSellotape · 21/04/2025 08:53

Change your shampoo and conditioner or don't use conditioner at all for a bit. Companies often tweak ingredients which can suddenly irritate when it didn't before.

BeyondMyWits · 21/04/2025 08:59

I had something similar, top half of back+ neck, nurse at our practice "cured" it... said it looked like "bac(k)ne" and said to use acnicide on it. Worked a treat.

Tiredallthetimeneedsleep · 21/04/2025 21:13

All clear now. Apparently it was follicitus

Any ideas about why you both got it at the same time? Glad it has cleared up.
