I need to share something gross but don’t want to tell anyone who knows me in real life, it would be awful to be dumped so close to Christmas!

I have suffered from tonsil stones for years, and recently bought a removal kit from Amazon which has managed to scoop out the disgusting little feckers really well.

I had the urge to check this evening, and have removed a monster!!! Is it too horrific to share a photo?! I need someone to know what I’ve been through!!!

I think you deserve the sponge bath / tea and toast / left alone with the stone in a quiet room to get to know each other routine like after having a baby (well, it was 30 years ago, hopefully still happening!)
Gestation period?
Weight on delivery?

Well done 😂

From about 15 onwards one of my favourite rituals was every Sunday to watch Heartbeat and pick out my tonsil stones with hair pins. I haven’t had any decent ones in about 20 years now. Honestly gutted. I love tonsil stone videos .
How do I get them back?

Namerchangee · 24/11/2024 02:38

Does picking them out make you gag? I have such a strong gag reflex that I think doing this would make me throw up.

That’s so disgusting looking @Tonsiltriggerwarning . Thank you for sharing! The smell would have been awful.

My DH used to get them but nothing that big. His breath ended up smelling so bad that I couldn’t kiss him for months. I’d hold my breath for a quick peck on the lips, closed mouths only. He got his tonsils removed through the private system. It was a hard recovery plus a haemorrhage requiring an ambulance and emergency surgery, but it was worth it. His overall health improved and his breath smelled normal and clean again.

Unfortunately some of the tonsils remain after surgery because they simply can’t remove them entirely, especially in adults. The blood vessels are too big and complex or something. It might be different if they use laser instead of a scalpel. Occasionally he’ll get a tonsil stone taste and he’ll dig around and remove it. He never wants the taste and smell of them again.

As a sporner bonus he developed a salivary gland stone under his tongue within days of surgery. This meant that half of his mouth was dry, it was very hard to eat and swallow, and he was in pain. Enough pain that he handed me a scalpel blade and got me to cut a little slit and pop the stone out. It was tricky. Huge relief for him. No photos, sorry sporners.

I used to get these all the time and bigger than the OP's. I used to push them out with a cotton bud. I started gargling daily with salt water and never got them again. The smell 🤢

Wow that's a whopper!!

My DD had a tonsillectomy because of tonsil stones. Worked perfectly 👌
