Infected cyst on back

I've had a small cyst on my back for decades. Annoyingly I can't reach it more than to touch it but occasionally if it feels a bit fuller than normal I'll get my husband to squeeze it and some white gunk comes out.

A few days ago I leant against something and realised it was sore. I thought it was maybe fuller than normal again, and it did look swollen, so got my husband to squeeze it and quite a bit came out. But it was extremely sore and I couldn't stand to let him try for too long.

It then seemed to get bigger still, red and felt harder. It hurts if I move around or lean my back on something.

Yesterday I went to the doctor to beg her to lance it! But she says it looks like an infected cyst that hasn't turned into an access and can only be drained if it's an abscess. I can have it removed but not until the infection is gone. So I've got a week's course of antibiotics. I did get my husband to have another squeeze last night but it was very sore and nothing was coming out, which I can't understand as there were marks on my shirt last night so it must be leaking a bit!

Any advice or shall I just leave it for the antibiotics to do their job?

I had a similar situation - the antibiotics did the job in clearing the infection and pain but I'm left with a sebasceous cyst (basically a small lump, no pain etc) which apparently would need to be surgically removed, and that will leave a bigger scar than leaving it as it is! So I'm dithering on whether to leave it, or go for the removal.

I definitely want it removed. The doctor said 'you don't want a scar on your back' but I just think, I can't see my own back, it really won't bother me to have a scar there!

Bump (just saw this): Many years ago I had a sebaceous cyst on my lower back. I had it removed — it was about the size of a die (dice) or a small cube of feta cheese. They sent it for a biopsy as a precaution but it was fine. I'm glad I had it done. The scar is tiny and you have to know it's there (according to DP, I've never seen it without the aid of a camera), whereas before it would occasionally itch and I would try to squeeze it, which was useless and just caused redness.
