Oh I hope someone comes along soon I'm having a complete brain fog! I have seen this before! It's the pin pricks I recognise that I've definitely seen before.

Hopeful bump

Do you have pins and needles?

HistoriaTrixie · 27/08/2024 01:24

Ugh, sorry you're having to deal with that. Looks like pompholyx/dyshidrotic eczema. The good part is that your GP or maybe a pharmacist should be able to sort you a steroid cream that will clear it up pretty quick!

JC03745 · 27/08/2024 01:25

Its a form of eczema. The pics they show are usually far worse than most get though.

Herpetic Whitlow

Bloody awful things

Im not sure because there is no way i have come into contact with a sore / ulcer

Can you get it any other way do you know?

OP posts:
ladycardamom · 27/08/2024 01:54

My money is on a Whitlow too!

AbraAbraCadabra · 27/08/2024 02:00

I have pompholyx and it doesn't look like that and it doesn't throb. I also suspect a whitlow.

PoopedAndScooped · 27/08/2024 02:17

Does / Can Whitlows go on their own with no treatment?

I have looked online and i am unable to have the anti-virals that is advised as i have Kidney disease with low function

I 100% havent come into contact with Herpes

Can it still be Herptic Witlow?

TomatoSandwiches · 27/08/2024 02:27

Herpes is contagious and transmittable before sores develop, you may not necessarily know if you've come into contact or not.

clarkkentsglasses · 27/08/2024 07:16

Yes, I just developed whitlows about 20 years ago.

The herpes virus can stay dormant in your body for years and you just never know.

They eventually go but my god they are sore.

Salt water baths and try leave it alone.

The sores are angry bastards.

SensibleSigma · 27/08/2024 07:19

Very early pompholyx. Moisturise, don’t itch it. It will dry up and get a bit scaly.

Avoid overheating and getting sweaty, rubber gloves etc.

dillwithit · 27/08/2024 07:41

Definitely looks like dyshidrotic eczema. I have it and it started like this. I get a throb/itch too. Mine started one morning for no apparent reason and I've never been fully rid of it since.

Mine did! I was in my 20's and never had it before. Mine starts as blisters under the skin which get itchy. The skin comes off and it weeps. Eventually, it dries, but the skin seems tight, sore and cracks over the top and takes weeks to fully recover. Thank fully, I haven't had it in years though.

This type of eczema is FAR more common than whitelows, which google says is 2 in 100,000 people!

TwinklyPeer · 19/09/2024 14:50

Pomphylox/dishydrotic eczema. The itch can be unbearable as the little blisters mature and if you don’t manage it well you can end up with cracks. I was recommended a steroid emollient- I usually only need to apply it a couple of times to reduce the flare up and so is better then a mild steroid cream that you might have to use for longer. Eurax can help with the itch too.
mine seems to be a systemic reaction to nickel and cobalt that I’m allergic to. Also worse in hot weather. DermnetNZ has good info.
