How to pop this?

I've had a spot come up just below my eye. It was red for a couple of days and then got a big white head yesterday but it is very painful and excruciating when I've given it a bit of a squeeze. It's a solid white lump, like it would come out whole if popped.
I've tried putting a warm flannel on it to try and help it pop but no luck.
Any other ideas? It's driving me mad!

Sterilise a needle or if you have a friendly HCP, ask them for a sterile hypodermic needle and pop it.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 29/06/2024 11:32

It's just below your eye. I'd leave it alone - sometimes there are places or things that should just not be attacked.

Delphigirl · 29/06/2024 11:43

A dab of sudocrem before bed might draw it out enough to deal with it the next morning. If it is too close to the eye that might not be practicable. But I agree with pp don’t dig around at it.

Photo?

Daisypod · 29/06/2024 12:58

How could I forget the photo!

Sorry I had trouble loading it. I'm not confident enough to do it with a needle

Nah, leave it. It's too close and on the most delicate skin of all.

olympicsrock · 29/06/2024 13:06

I’d put on a warm compress then use two cotton buds to pop it

Sterilise a needle or if you have a friendly HCP, ask them for a sterile hypodermic needle and pop it.

This is what I would do, but then I have quite good hand-eye coordination combined with poor impulse control.😂

Otherwise OP could just leave it. If the inflammation goes and it stays hard, then it's probably a milium (the plural "milia" is more common in web searches), which it's generally recommended to leave alone. Although again, I would be at it anyway because it would annoy me.

Daisypod · 29/06/2024 13:42

I did wonder if it was milia as it's hard and seems under a layer of skin however it's also red around it and painful which I've read shouldn't happen with them

I promise you but a thick blob of sudocrem on and it will soften and draw it out

Daisypod · 29/06/2024 15:17

Ok sudocrem ready for application this evening 👍

I'd poke it with a sterile needle. Just go carefully and slowly.

KirstenBlest · 29/06/2024 15:22

Leave it alone. Dab it with alcohol - hand sanitizer or surgical spirit or vodka.
Give it a day or two.

coldcallerbaiter · 29/06/2024 15:22

Yep needle and squeeze- and pic of the ooze s’il vous plait.

MotherWol · 29/06/2024 15:30

I’d put a hydrocolloid plaster on it and leave it alone, but I tend to get red scars that take forever to shift if I pick/squeeze.

WeeOrcadian · 29/06/2024 16:01

Squeezing milia won't do anything but make it sore

Sterilised needle and make a small opening in the skin. Get two cotton buds and roll it out

And we need photos. This is important. Have your phone handy.

CaputDraconis · 29/06/2024 20:48

That's a beauty

Conqueeftador · 29/06/2024 22:19

That definitely needs a sterile needle if you want it to pop out. It really does look like milia, it won’t just pop with squeezing.

Getoffthesofaplease · 29/06/2024 22:46

Ooh just as I was getting bored watching glasto...

Spuddled · 30/06/2024 21:20

Don't leave us in suspense@Daisypod !

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 30/06/2024 21:23

You need to break the skin.
