Hair under skin

Hello, this is not my natural habitat but can anyone please help me? I have somehow got a massive hair growing under the skin on my actual face - any ideas how to get it to come to the surface? I can feel it if I go in with a needle/tweezers but can’t get an end of it, and have just made my face all sore and ugly! It’s been going on for several months and bits will come up as spots then go down. I’ve been exfoliating. Pic attached so you can see the offending area. Thanks for any ideas!

I'd consider putting something like a blister plaster on it. It will moisten the skin and may encourage the hair up.

Have you put a needle under it in the middle, and hooked it up to pull it free?

Good shout re blister plaster. I’ve tried with the needle but I can’t get a hold of it. I think the top of it is up closer to my lips, there’s a kind of circle where spots come and go - maybe I should concentrate on there?

You want to dig near the root, not the tip. If you get near the base, you can pull the tip free.

How do I know where the root is? (You can tell this is not my usual board, can't you? I'm usually a Style and Beauty gal, ironically, given the state of me!)

This is expensive but may have to bite the bullet, thank you. I am actually using a couple of the acids listed in the ingredients on it now, and lavender oil to try to calm the skin down at nights, so it seems my instincts were on the right lines.

Can you not remember where it began and see which direction it’s going?

Fraaahnces · 27/06/2024 11:40

I don’t live in the UK, but in Aus. I would use a hypodermic needle or a splinter remover (first aid section of the chemist). The needle is angled and can get underneath the hair to lift it up and cause less injury. (Sewing needles are rounder and blunter - ergo -more .)

It’s £27 reduced from £37 but if you sign up to the newsletter you get another 15% off taking it down to £22.95 which might be a bit more manageable?

I'm having a gentle poke at a bristle protruding from my chin at the moment, enjoying it before I get the tweezers out. I have nothing to contribute to the ingrowing hair convo, but I'd like to ask where your lovely T bar necklace is from.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/06/2024 11:47

@AGlinnerOfHope I think the start of it is the round part at the top but really I don't know. I've never had anything like this before although I am a very hairy person so am no stranger to the odd ingrowing hair - this one is L-O-N-G.

@Fraaahnces I need to go to Boots at lunchtime actually so I will add that to my list, thank you.

@Arlanymor if it's going to work I'm game.

Just here for a photo of the removed hair or better still a video of the removal!

This is more my remit - I think it's this one, but definitely from this website:

Nope. I tried all the suggestions and ended up with a massive raw wound, so have just let it heal over for now. I am using the lotion stuff recommended up thread every day.
