I had what I thought was a blister which popped over the weekend but the liquid which came out was pus rather than clear as usual with a blister. It was sore and weeping so I had been keeping a plaster over and taping it so the plaster didn't come off. Overnight my toe has swelled and these lumps have appeared. Its sore, itchy and Im struggling to bend my toe. Pharmacist had no idea Confused so has suggested GP so trying to get through to them. In the meantime, any ideas?

Sore, itchy and swelling is suggesting an infection to me OP. Def. GP. Have you been bitten by anything do you think?!

olderbutwiser · 04/06/2024 10:11

Athlete's foot sometimes blisters, but not I think like that! Hope you can get to a GP.

Nellieinthebarn · 04/06/2024 10:13

That looks like an infected insect bite to me, I would insist on a GP appointment ASAP, because if it is infected it will probably only get worse without antibiotics.

FairIsleCromartyForties · 04/06/2024 10:15

Ouch that looks sore. I hope you get an appointment asap. You haven't been walking barefoot have you? It looks almost like a hogweed burn.

PuttingDownRoots · 04/06/2024 10:20

Have you tried an image search on Google?

My first thought was had you been wandering around outside with barefoot or open shoes

krystalweedon · 04/06/2024 10:24

I think it could be a form of eczema. I get something similar. It can be really painful, very itchy, and the skin blisters.

Thanks all. Dr Google suggests it could be a variety of things, from athletes foot to seceral types of ezcema to an infected cyst.

No walking around barefoot here as its still pretty muddy everywhere. I am prone to insect bites, some of which have become infected previously, but this definitely feels different.

Appointment with the nurse tomorrow morning so we will see whether she knows!

I had athletes foot like that which became infected. I was given antibiotic cream by the GP.

Taciturn · 04/06/2024 13:18

Sounds and looks like impetigo. Unusual place to get it. Pharmacist should be able to sell OTC cream

Acunningruse · 04/06/2024 14:21

Its so swollen would athletes foot or inpetigo do that?

That looks sore. Did you get to see a Dr? What did they decide it was? I hope it’s feeling a bit better.

Acunningruse · 05/06/2024 11:52

Well. Nurse didn't know what it was, so she called the GP in, who also didn't know what it was, but has prescribed an antibiotic cream Confused so we will see.
Both thought it could be an infection of some kind due to the swelling.

When my DDs had Covid they got purple lumps on their toes with yellow pus blisters in the middle of each lump.

Your blisters are more extreme and on one toe, whereas their blisters were spread over all toes. Apart from that they did look similar.

The kids said they were very sore and itchy.
