LOTS of verrucas for you

My daughter's feet 🙈

They are very uncomfortable but they just keep on multiplying. We see a podiatrist.

I am an awful person because they give me a huge amount of pleasure to look at 😬

@Implosion85 You should probably get her checked with a GP. That is A LOT and sometimes so many like that can indicate an issue with the immune system.

I agree about seeing her GP, although I do love a verucca.

Should have mentioned that we saw the GP and he wasn't interested 🙄 but did do some bloods which were fine.

I remember I had ONE verruca as a child and was referred to hospital for it to be frozen off. Those were the days!

That's awful. Not even something to take grim pleasure in. What are you doing about getting rid of them?

NotSentFromIphone · 29/05/2024 20:38

I would try another GP, this is a virus generally kept in check by our immune systems and for your daughter, this isn't happening. I would be pushing for a referral in case something isn't quite right with her immune system.

Implosion85 · 29/05/2024 22:02

We see a podiatrist who has done a mixture of freezing, silver nitrate, needling and freezing. She also scrapes the top off them so they're flatter. She's brilliant and keeps my daughter comfortable at least.

I will take her back to the GP though

I had awful verrucas from about age 10 until late teens. Doctors said my immune system would kick in eventually and they would go - they never did. When it got to the point that the whole of my heel was a massive verruca, they referred me to a specialist who said the only option was cutting out but walking would be impacted due to the amount of tissue needing to be removed. He said that a natural remedy might be worth a try - thuja tincture. Brown ish liquid like iodine - allow verruca to soak it up and repeat every couple of days, stopping for a break if the skin became too tender. I can’t remember how long it took but they just disappeared like magic. Wish I had some pictures from back then as it was quite unbelievable!

Put compeed plasters on and leave them/replace them every couple of weeks - stop the air. It honestly worked for mine when mine wouldn't shift and I had had them frozen at great expense for months!

How old is your daughter? It’s not uncommon for girls going through hormonal changes to pick up veruccas/warts. I did and so did my DD, and my poor sister, her feet were even worse than your daughters - and stubbornly around for ages. They can also clear up seemingly overnight!

you do need to be careful that you are treating each verruca individually, as if you are, e.g. using a pumice over an area including multiple veruccas then you can actually encourage more veruccas to form on the healthy skin in between. Might be worth picking up a load of those really cheap coarse emery boards and cutting them into small sections so you can use them once and throw away?

You need to get the “root” of a verucca out before it will heal - you can still see lots of them - little black specks - in the photos you shared.

once her immune system has realised what they are, they should start to clear up - so maybe just focus on treating a few of the worst/most uncomfortable ones and see if that makes a difference?

Have you tried salicylic acid? It comes in a variety of strengths/forms and we have found it very effective.
