Disgusting feet!

How on earth do I get rid of the hard skin on my feet?! Considering footner but I think the skin is too hard. Tried a pumice foot board thing and a foot grater but it just keeps coming back!

What do you advise please?! Too embarrassed to go to chiropodist!

My feet have been like this for as long as I can remember

Go to a professional they have seen far far worse. I went with my fungal toe nails - embarrassed for 10 minutes and they look great!

Plump82 · 24/07/2023 14:39

That must be agony to walk on but as hard skin goes it really doesn't look that bad. A professional will have seen much, much worse.

MoonlightMedicine · 24/07/2023 14:49

Wow my feet are much worse than that and I don't consider them disgusting!

Bonfire23 · 24/07/2023 15:06

Microplane foot file on dry feet
Wash feet, use exfoliating scrub
Dry them. Slather urea based foot cream on and add socks

Then do the foot cream every night and the foot file/scrub weekly

MankyFeet123 · 25/07/2023 16:08

It's the bit underneath my little toe that's recently started hurting to walk on. The hard skin on side of my big toes is very unsightly. To be honest I've foot filed then a few times before these pics so normally it's alot thicker.

I try hide my feet away but I'm now thinking I have to something about it.

Foot file and Avon extreme foot cream

GettingStuffed · 26/07/2023 12:37

You can get a moisturiser for feet that looks like footner. You do it in exactly the same way put on bootee, then socks. I get very similar results to footner without leaving trails of dead skin around

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 26/07/2023 12:49

Do you use the foot file on dry skin? It's much much more effective. Sometimes it gets a bit sensitive even though its still hard skin (especially for cracked heels) I usually find if that happens I can go back to it a couple of days later once the newly revealed skin has desensitised a bit and carry on.

Then use a foot cream with high levels of urea in. I forget what it's called. Foot something...

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 26/07/2023 12:52

No, I'm talking rubbish. It's flexitol, the 25% urea one.

FannyFifer · 26/07/2023 12:54

Def go to podiatrist I promise you they have seen waaaaaay worse, that is tame compared to some folks feet.

MankyFeet123 · 26/07/2023 13:33

With a podiatrist, do you have to keep regularly going?

OP posts:
Muhwanda · 26/07/2023 13:35

You don’t have to, but it can be good to go regularly, and depending on your feet that may only be once per year. I go every 6 weeks and it’s genuinely changed my life.

MankyFeet123 · 26/07/2023 14:36

Oh I thought it was going to be a monthly thing which is another reason I haven't wanted to go, feeling sorry for the person that has to deal with my manky feet each month 😅 feeling a bit more at ease at the thought of going to a podiatrist now. Thank you all!!

Go to a chiropodist - it's money well spent IMO.

Muhwanda · 26/07/2023 14:58

Honestly, my feet are horrific (ex gymnast, have horses so mangled from being trod on, and a probating runner), but the podiatrist has seen them all! After seeing her for about 2 years she said my feet were beautiful today! No one has EVER said that to me before 🤣🤣 You won’t regret going I promise!

EbiRaisukaree · 26/07/2023 15:04

Once you’ve got them smooth, make sure your shoes all fit well. If you’re slopping around in shoes too big for you then this will build up more readily.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/07/2023 21:06

You say it keeps coming back, yes, that's why you have to do it regularly!

File first, soak your feet, use Flexitol every night. It's magic stuff.

VentBox · 28/07/2023 07:28

The Podietrist will be assessing you with other things in mind like are you Hypermobile? Could you have Ehlos Danlos Syndrome? They may recommend something that prevents the build up coming back again like a teardrop metatarsal pad on an insole for instance, which could reduce the pain. The hard skin is protecting you specifically there for a reason.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 28/07/2023 07:35

I see patients like this everyday.
Lay off the footner,it wont remove stubborn hard skin ,just top layers and it regularly creates skin irritation and allergic reactions, which make a mess of peoples feet, As for foot filing, the rubbing will stimulate hard skin to come back.
Moisturise your feet with a good urea based foot cream, and visit a foot health professional or podiatrist every couple of months to sort out issues.

They have chosen to be a podiatrist.

They love gross feet.

I love this thank you!! There's actually a podiatrist up the road so I'm going to call in and see when I can get an appointment.

I don't think I'm hypermobile? I've always put my bad feet down to genetics as I have bunions as well which rest of the women in the family have! I understand obviously that hard skin isn't genetic!! I also thought walking around bare foot was better so that hasn't helped!

Thank you all for making me feel a bit more comfortable!
