Has anyone burst an internal stye

I have been directed here and i did not know this place existed ( and have refrained from clicking on most of the threads ha)
But I have a large internal stye in my lower eyelid and it now has a yellow 'head' but its right next to my eye.
I am in so much pain and i am desperate. Has anyone ever burst one? With a sterile needle obviously? It's been a week, I have warm compressed the shit out of my eye and i just want it over. Help me

You can, you shouldn't without a nurse there, is it a chalazion?

I had to have a chalazion surgically removed, it was one of the most painful things I'd ever had on my face.

You can help them by rubbing them from underneath, while a hot shower is directed at your face.

Keep hot compressing and then massaging from underneath. Do not use a needle!

I did years ago as a teenager when I used to get styes. I’m sure someone told me to find the eyelash blocking it and pull it out but couldn’t do it or find the eyelash so just squeezed the spot and yes lots of gunk came out and it hurt but healed. I think this was the only one I could squeeze.

What with these, mouth ulcers, and whatever else I had as a teenager (weakened immune system) plus painful spots (acne) life was fun!

Yes! I did it last year and it was bliss!

HelpMeGetThrough · 23/07/2023 05:28

I have done, I pushed from underneath it after a few days of having it. All the gunk shot in my eye!! 🤢

Don't put a needle near your eye.

Pointed tweezers are perfect for this.

A steady hand and a magnifying mirror and off you go.

Whataretheodds · 23/07/2023 06:50

I was also told(not by a medical professional) to pull out the relevant eyelash

Whataretheodds · 23/07/2023 06:51

Have you bathed it with salt solution and taken a painkiller?

Nothing at all, other than a medical professional, is "perfect for this". Pointed tweezers near your eye? Insanity.

I have MGD and these come with the turf. As others have said, a warm compress and massage is the limit to what you should do yourself - repeat daily. If painful you need to see the doctor. Anyone prone to these, you can buy electric eye mask - 15 minutes every other day, then massage, keeps them at bay. Feels lovely too.

Put teabags as warm as you can bear on it and it'll burst after a day or 2. From experience

I had a big chalazion on my upper once, not that painful but huge. The GP wouldn't touch it, so went to an Eye & Ear Hospital who booked for day sugery to have it drained.

On the way home I went over a bump in the road, my sunglasses bumped back across the eye and the thing burst. Everywhere, it was dire. I was doing 100kph and managed to pull over ok. Awful!

Electric eye mask?? Tell more.
