What would you do with the aftermath of a (very old) boil...?

Around 15 years ago I had a boil in my groin area. It was in the skin right at the top of my leg right next to my right labia, in the thigh crease if you will. It was a pain (literally and otherwise) but eventually it b*ggered off. I've never had anything like it before or since.

Anyway, where it WAS, I get a tiny lump. I squeeze it about every other day and pus comes out-white/pale colour, smells gross. It's like a spot, but it never fully goes. If I forget about it for a few days (rare Grin) it gets larger and slightly more sore. I once had a devastating incident where I was about to have sex, touched it while laid on my back and a load of watery gunk squirted out (this was about 8 years ago, I think It's healed too much for any such behaviour now).

I am wondering perhaps if I resist messing with it and leave it for a few months, the pus may harden and I may be able to get rid of it once and for all?

I don't understand why there's still a hole for pus to collect in though?
It's not noticable, my partner doesn't know It's there, you can only feel a lump under the skin, it isn't protruding or rounded on the surface.

WWYD?

I would take it to my GP for a looking at.

Why would you WANT to get rid of it?!

Why would you WANT to get rid of it?!

This!

Don’t you realise how lucky you are?!

ihatebojo · 07/08/2022 20:16

Haha I agree with PP. That is my idea of heaven!

ihatebojo · 07/08/2022 20:16

Also, photo or it doesn't count. You know the rules.

Hugasauras · 07/08/2022 20:19

You don't know how lucky you are. DH has a refilling gunk hole on his chest and the bastard won't let me near it. It gets bigger and bigger until I can't handle it and tell him to let me squeeze it or get rid of it himself or I'll divorce him. He then goes and does it himself and the whole cycle starts again.

FlibbertyGiblets · 07/08/2022 20:23

The hole is the pus draining not collecting, does that make sense?

Best ask your GP, to arrange proper removal of the cyst and sac.

FallOutPloy · 07/08/2022 20:43

You need the actual sac of the cyst removing, but even then it can still sometimes come back.

HillyJilly · 08/08/2022 23:32

Grin Grin

Because I don't like the thought of a smelly hole with gunk in it right next to my vagina Grin
@FlibbertyGiblets .. Sort of?!

I should go to the gp but who likes a gp rummaging about down there? And It's not as if It's serious. Can't I get rid of it myself?! I mean totally rid? I didn't realise cysts had a 'sac' (a sac makes me think of a yolk sac that baby fish have, is that weird)?!

@Hugasauras do it while he's asleep 😂

It's a cyst and the whole sac needs to be removed properly.

SeekingTact · 08/08/2022 23:43

Sounds like a sebaceous cyst, OP. If it’s been there that long/recurring, chances are it’s staying and you’ll have periodic flare-up. Further infection can make the lesion bigger lead to sever ulceration. Do get it seen to - you would need to have the sac removed or have excision. GP won’t care - they’ve seen it all.

pumpkinpie01 · 08/08/2022 23:52

Definitely a reoccurring cyst/sac. I went to go the drs last week for one , he numbed it , got the scalpel out and got the sac out it's the only way I'm afraid !

I have just been asked for a photo of my faffolina on mumsnet. That's a first. I'm flattered no Grin

We're very open minded here. Trigger warnings unnecessary on sporners corner!

I got a right flaming (under a different username) a couple of years ago for posting a photo of the aftermatch of one of my better 'projects' Grin

If you want it to stop, it would need to be excised. It is best to do this if it is not inflamed or infected. This would be done under a local anaesthetic and you would have a barely visible scar afterwards.I would book into the GP and let them know how long you’ve had it and how often you have to squeeze it before it begins to hurt.
