Skin tags… not exactly sporn but hopefully close enough!

I’m hoping for some sporner wisdom, I’ve got several skin tags on my neck that I want rid of. I’ve looked at the cost of having removed them privately and decided that’s definitely out of my price range. But I see there are several DIY removal methods but am very confused as which is the best. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I bought a rechargeable skin tag remover from Amazon, it's brilliant but hurts a little as it burns them off. I've removed 5 massive ones from my armpits, no scarring

Maybe I should try that. I have the kit that freezes them off but don’t find it at all effective.

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 15/07/2022 22:26

I had a thing that froze them off that didn't work at all, so I tried these little rubber bands you can get on Amazon and they worked really well. I had a big one at the top of my leg and it fell off after about 10 days.

You use a pen applicator to put the band over the skin tag, and it cuts off the blood supply. It isn't painful but does feel slightly sore while the band is on.

Whirlygiggles · 16/07/2022 16:28

Not recommending it, but I just snipped mine off, brief moment of pain and no scars.

I used brand new (sterilised with rubbing alcohol) nail clippers. You could used some Elma cream if you are a big wossy scared. 😂

Then just a small plaster.

I did a DIY one a few days ago (sorry no photos).
Cotten thread tied tight round the stalk. Tag went black and fell got pulled off 24 hours later.

Timeforabiscuit · 16/07/2022 16:36

Dh had chemotherapy, downsides are numerous, but upside was all the skin tags he had fell off!

MrsMaverick · 16/07/2022 16:39

Tagbands from Amazon work in a few days but only if the skin tag has a 'stalk'.

Bouledeneige · 16/07/2022 16:39

I also cut one off that was in my armpit. It hurt a bit more than I thought it would but was fine.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 16/07/2022 16:39

Oh ffs. COTTON.

I bought one of the rubber band applicators things off Amazon and currently have the tiny bands on 4 skin tags! As a PP's mentioned it's not painful but one of them is sore, but it's in the crook of my arm so I'm moving it a lot.

Two of the tags are turning black already, I only applied the bands last night! 😱

If they are big you can tie them off with cotton but that's very fiddly.

Best thing is to chop them off as a pp has said with sterile nail scissors. Do them while they are tiny. It hurts a lot btw, more than you would expect but its instantly over. I chopped two off my eyelid.

wheresthehope · 24/07/2022 09:58

I had a fairly large one after I had my first baby, I tied it off with dental floss. Took bout a week and it went black and got a little sore but fell off. Completely gone now

EdithStourton · 25/07/2022 22:15

DD clipped one off herself when she was about 14. She was very smug about her self-surgery.

I have some tiny ones on my side and am considering getting Medieval with the little sods.

Tell me more....

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/07/2022 22:18

I usually tie one of my own hairs round them and they fall off.

Hohofortherobbers · 25/07/2022 22:20

Held an ice cube over dh's skin tag then sliced it off with a scalpel. Painless.

Same

Stings briefly but works a treat

AtrociousCircumstance · 25/07/2022 22:26

Link to the rechargeable implement please @StrangeCondition !

Almostlegible · 25/07/2022 22:28

Fine fishing line.
Pre tie the knot, loop it over then pull.
The advantage is it’s hard to see it’s there.

whereamu · 25/07/2022 22:32

Fishing line 😂

brokengoalposts · 25/07/2022 22:41

I've done a few with cotton, doesn't take long. DH has just bought some little sticker things which take up to 20 days, but he's such a drip he's gone for the least scary thing, lol

SandAndSea · 25/07/2022 22:58

I tied one off but didn't get the thread close enough to the base and it's left an annoying 'mole' type thing.

A few others I've scratched off.

But, I also have a fancy 'burning' tool from Amazon. I can't remember any details now (I'm not at home) but you should be able to find one with a search on there. I removed a big one without any scarring. It does hurt a bit but you can go at your own pace.

ChickpeaFlour · 25/07/2022 23:21

I hadn’t thought of doing anything with mine - I had trillions of small ones on my neck from my last (recent) pregnancy for some reason . I’m waiting to see if they disappear and think they’ve certainly calmed down at least or faded

Wallywobbles · 26/07/2022 06:03

What to do with the ones you can't see? I've got some on the underside of my boobs and on my back at the moment exactly where my bra strap is. While I've cut a lot off I'm not sure I trust anyone in my family with sicssors on me.
