Bartholins cyst

Posting here for the extensive knowledge of the sporner gang!

I have a Bartholins cyst and 2 rounds of antibiotics have done very little, so I’ve been referred for marsupialisation.

Would anyone care to share an honest review of their recovery experience with me?

Can I do anything with it in the meantime?
I am taking heavy duty painkillers and having my little baths, is there anything I can put on it to take the awful dry/stinging/stabbing feeling off a bit?

Well because in my case I seem to have become drier than the Sahara desert and chafing and rubbing seems to occur from even the gentlest of walking leading to the area becoming inflamed or a large boil appearing, it's a joy, I I have found using Balance Activ Soothing cream seems to keep them at bay.

Have you discussed local estrogen to treat the vaginal atrophy with your GP? An emollient like Epaderm or Hydromol ointment is really good to apply before walking or an exercise and helps prevent friction and chafing - really thick and protective, cheap too..

For those of you who have had the marsupialisation - how did you get the surgery? I know someone who has been struggling with them for years and the surgery has been mentioned, but they won’t see her until she has an active one. But when she calls with one the wait list is so long that they go away by the time she can be seen and the cycle just repeats

I attended A and E as (TMI ALERT) my first was no "small lump the size of a pea". My entire labia on one side was about 2 inches bigger than the other side.

I couldn't walk or sit or stand or do anything without crying. I went to work, manager sent me to A and E (luckily next door!) they took one look and practically threw me into surgery.

Same with my next 2 (though they were smaller each time, still fucking huge).

After that, I was referred to the aptly named "lumps and bumps" clinic for the word catheter. When that failed and I still got more, my GP was like "You know this better than me. You want drugs or surgery?" and I would decide based on size, location and how bad the pain was!

Marsupilisation doesn't mean she would never get another. Though in my case it did make them smaller and further down the labia. First one was my entire labia, last one was about cherry tomato size, just inside the vaginal opening.

I haven't seen my GP as they are so busy it's ridiculous and the last time I went they were running 2 hrs late, I only saw the Nurse Practitioner with the first one that burst, she gave me antibiotics told me to do salty sitz baths and call 111 or go to A&E if I felt feverish, no mention as to what was wrong, was caused it etc, so I don't have much faith tbh.

I like the sound of marsupialisation - do you get a baby kangeroo?
Had a huge one removed surgically.
No kangerooo.

I was asking as I have the same problem as you! Thanks for answering :)

I couldn't even tell I'd had anything done and mine was MASSIVE. A lovely nap in the hospital, a bit of me time, then driven home in a lovely morphine daze. Highly recommend.

Did you have the procedure?
