For the last few weeks I've had spots appearing on the back of my neck. This is the best picture I could get. The fluid filled one looks like chicken pox but I had that as a child. They are slightly sore but not agonising.

No changes to usual routine - same old shampoo & conditioner, same laundry products etc.

Any ideas oh-wise-sporners?

Could they be insect bites? Do you have any pets that might have brought fleas into the house?

WildCherryBlossom · 10/05/2022 17:58

Hmm, I do have pets but they are flea-treated. Also not sure why fleas would only attack the back of my neck. Attack of the Killer Vampire Fleas?

I might try a different pillow incase I have some sort of mite...

My pets have always been flea treated but sometimes a few have got in from outside and taken a while to die off. That does look just like flea bites, but it could be something else similar like a mite I think fleas and mites gravitate to the warmest places, so that might be why they have gone to the back of your neck as that's often against the pillow or has hair over it. Definitely worth trying a change of pillow and bedding if only to rule that out.

If they are bothering you, an antihistamine should stop any soreness or itching.

Could be shingles especially as you describe it is agonising.

WildCherryBlossom · 10/05/2022 19:12

Oh no - I said sore but not agonising. So I'm thinking probably not Shingles as everyone I know who has had that says it is excruciating.

Oh sorry, that will teach me to read properly, probably not shingles then. Could well be a rogue flea/fleas,it's the time if year and treatments don't always work.

Wolfiefan · 11/05/2022 08:55

Just checking it’s not frontline or something bought at a supermarket for fleas? Definitely not nits? Have you combed?

NoNadaNeinNope · 14/05/2022 23:25

Maybe folliculitis?

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 15/05/2022 01:01

It could be shingles. I've had it several times and it isn't always agonising. Go and see your GP and get it checked out.
