Big foot blister- infected?

I wore a pair of shoes that I haven't worn in quite a while on Thursday and both feet come up with blisters within a couple of hours, the blister on the left foot has gone already, looks completely healed. What are the chances this is infected? It hurts to walk on it. I don't know whether to leave it and see how it does

Well yes it would hurt, the surrounded tissue I think is rubbing not infection related erythema. Draw a pen line round the red area and if it doesn't spread it's ok.
Leave it alone, whack a big fabric plaster over it and it will either burst or deflate in a few days.
Unless you are diabetic in which case you'll need to see your practice nurse or podiatrist.

Or immunosuppressed i'e steroids, transplant drugs, rheumatoid arthritis etc.

Although not many replies I thought I would quickly post back and say it quickly turned nasty and by 6pm saturday I was shaking with a fever of 40.4, my heart rate went up to 164BPM and my blood pressure dropped quickly, I've been on iv antibiotics since Saturday night. I'm not sure why my body reacted like that, I'm not generally unwell usually. But it was very satisfying the see all the white thick pus coming out 😳 I know that sounds gross 😅

Oh wow, glad you got seen! A very similar thing happened to my DH a few years ago, also on his foot, but in his case it was an infected insect bite. But he also needed IV antibiotics. Hope you are better soon!

Yikes that is really nasty! You poor thing, let that be a lesson to us all.

Sweetpea1532 · 14/03/2022 19:23

Wow @InsufficientOven

Glad you're recovering though before it got too sinister. Flowers
